M.J. Rifkin, Incorporated
About this pro
I have over 25 years of solid experience in creative and technical writing, and the academic credentials to back them up, (MBA). I mentor students, and keep continuing education to stay current with various topics, disciplines, laws, (e.g. libel and slander), and industry changes. It's still fun for me to figure out what you're trying to say, and make it easy for everyone else to understand you!
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? It's not complicated. It's quoted based on the scope and duration of the project, and my prices are published on my website. The only "variable" comes into play when you want me on location for several days, and expenses become incurred. These are considered "soft" charges, since we can't know them all when quoting, but they are built into the quote at reasonable rates. Any overages are billed at cost, (no markup.)
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Absolutely. My MBA was acquired in 2013, and I'm in my 50's. I stay current with all of my insurance licensing, (I do some sales fulfillment writing for insurance), so I have to take 15 hours every two years to stay licensed. I also maintain a public safety officer license, and I'm always reading about changes in the libel and slander laws.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I sold an original screenplay that I wrote in the 1980's. It was a total fluke, that got into production, and evolved into my company. Now, 25 years later, I'm enjoying free-lancing again.
