The company was very punctual and easy to work with. They gave me a good price on a tear off and replacement on my house and garage. They also did new gutters. They did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. I will hire them again next for my other projects.

The faucet replacement job ended up being non-typical and Be had to run to Home Depot for adapters. Job well done. Very polite and took the old fixture. Highly recommend.

Quality work. Gracie & Marek are easy to work with. We had a complete bathroom remodel done, demo down to the studs. Could not be happier with how it turned out. Also had new floor, window & door installed in a half bath. Everything done in 10 days .

Claudio was fantastic. He arrived on time. Had a look at the job and told me not to sweat 💦 over it as it was not as big as I thought. He said it just needed just a simple external Faucet replacement. He went and bought the faucet from Home Depot and charged me half the money we had originally planned for. Honest and sincere !! I'd recommend him.

The guys from PRO Window Works were great ! That was the company that actually repairs windows while the rest of the companies offered me to replace it ,which is way more expensive. I had a couple of windows in my house with rotten spots and one with broken glass . Guys did their job perfectly , they were polite and honest when I had ton of questions and concerns . Had a pleasure to work with this company . Will definitely hire them again when needed and will recommend them to others ! Thank you so much again !

Russ was very informative and honest about the best windows for our home. We are thrilled with the work he and the installers did on our house. We were in the market for new windows for a while and met with multiple salesman. Russ was the most knowledgeable person we had met and that is why we went with him and his company. The prices were extremely reasonable and competitive. I think the best thing was the job was completed on time. We have recommended him to my sister who is also going to get her windows done as well through him and would recommend him to anyone in the market for new windows. Thanks Russ for the great job!!!!

Lyndell did an outstanding job on our powder room. He came to our home to give us an estimate. He told what exactly needed to be done. He showed me the area needing repairs. Other companies expanded the area of repair in their estimates. He worked tirelessly on the project. The powder room looks like no work was ever done. Excellent. I highly recommend Lyndell's Home Remodel and Repair.

Chano rehung the shutters on my house. The last handyman hung them incorrectly and some had actually fallen off. Chano hung them in a very professional way and I am sure they will not come down until we want them to. He was very professional, on time, and cleaned up. I would definitely use him again.

Outstanding. Mega Solutions did a huge job for me (18 large thermal windows of custom sizes), and they win the trifecta: they had the most reasonable estimate, they did the job perfectly and they completed it on time. Beyond that, the very pleasant owner, Luke, went out of his way to communicate with me. He was always responsive via email and phone. His people were respectful and conscientious and kept the house clean. As a woman by herself, I especially appreciated not having to deal with the leering workmen one sometimes ends up with. (TWO bad experiences before these guys *even though those other companies came from Angie's list*!). I give Mega Solutions an A+ and highly recommend them to anyone needing window work. Frankly, I didn't know there were still places like this out there. They're the way all construction companies should be.

I hired TKR to replace my windows and patio door. There are so many window companies, honestly it was kind of overwhelming. That was until I hired TKR. They were reccomended to me and I see why. I thought Mike G. was exactly what I was looking for. With all of TKR expertise and experience I was confident I made the right choice! He wasn't the cheapest, but they definitely didn't have the added expense/overhead of dealing with the big companies either. I thought it was the best of both worlds, all the big name options with a personal touch! I met with Mike, he listened to our concerns and made the right recommendation for us. The windows were installed on time, on budget and my wife and I couldn't be happier! I've already recommended them to my neighbors and they too have already hired TRK! I would gladly recommend them to anyone! Thanks TKR!

When I contacted them to know if I should change my old windows with a new one, they advised me not to buy new windows; that they will help me fix those windows and I will also spend less for the job than buying new windows. I gave it a trial and it worked. Thanks!

I put out a request for window replacements. I needed to meet new egress codes for windows. John called right away and met me the next day. He came up with a great solution, found the right type of windows and sent his installers after the order came in. The installers were also great. They came on time as promised, but what I loved most about them, they were very clean, efficient, and work was great. Really happy I hired them and would definitely recommend them for any window needs.

I had a small siding repair and replacement job. Mark came out right away and worked quickly. He first discussed which pieces of siding needed to replaced. He brought the material down from our garage rafters. He did a beautiful job and cleaned up all the scraps. I am so thankful to have found him and would highly recommend him.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
