FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we need to build background information including why you are looking for support/help and what you have tried in the past. I also like to get an idea about the goals a family or individual has for their dog. After this we can begin to develop a plan for training. All sessions are individualized. I do not have group classes. If you are interested in group classes, agility for example, I can refer you to some great local trainers.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a board certified behavior analyst and as a behavior analyst I have been trained to look for the reason the behavior is or is not happening and then teach skills to either replace bad behavior and build skills that are meaningful to the client's life and unique situation. We discuss environmental modifications in addition to skill building to further improve success. As a trainer I specialize in training that makes the dog human team successful in every day situations I trained and placed assistance dogs for individuals with disabilities.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for positive trainers that do not use dominance to address behavioral concerns.
