“We hired Elaine for a private party this past weekend and she and her two band members were top drawer fantastic. She is a complete professional and very gifted. She has an amazing voice and is a wonderful entertainer. Wish she could have played all night.” August 2017Jul 9, 2019
I loved working with Elaine! She made the planning process very easy. Elaine and her band sounded amazing during the performance and definitely added to the atmosphere of the day. Everyone there really enjoyed their music!Jun 19, 2019
We hired Elaine and her quartet to entertain at a 50th wedding anniversary for my parents. The band had to travel over 100 miles to the venue. They arrived early and set a very nice stage in the corner of the room. Elaine and her band played a very nice mixture of standards, took requests and engaged the audience. I can’t say enough about the quality of the sound – We had the luxury of some of the finest musicians in the country all to ourselves for the evening. Our guests were highly complimentary. Thanks, Elaine! August 2013Jun 22, 2019
“If you’re in the market to curate a truly elegant and alluring environment for your event, hiring Elaine Dame and her team is the way to go. Elaine and her quintet played at our company’s 30th-anniversary party. In addition to being incredibly self-sufficient as far as set up and break down, their performance really elevates your guests’ experience at your event. Their set list is dynamic and multi-dimensional, really delivering a “something-for-everyone” atmosphere. Such a phenomenal performance and incredible customer service. Would/will hire again in a heartbeat!”Jun 24, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Elaine will offer flexible pricing packets to accommodate all price points, incorporating different sized-ensembles, based specifically on your musical needs. Her booking fees include mileage, round-trip travel time, parking, set-up time (it is her contracted policy to be completely set up and "on deck" at least thirty minutes prior to the contracted start time), performance time and break-down time. Of course, Elaine and her band members will be on-site much earlier for set-up. Elaine is also fully insured and will happily obtain special insurance if necessary.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Elaine will assist you every step of the way, providing videos for viewing, as well as her extensive song list of jazz, pop, blues, and Latin standards. She will also provide an event organizer document and be available at any time to address questions and concerns. Additionally, Elaine will: - be flexible at all times and behave in an ethical, helpful, amiable and professional way. -provide contracts and forms in a timely and efficient manner. -take care of all the details at the venue regarding parking, load in and set up. -provide a professional sound system with a qualified sound technician on site. The system is available for your use at any time, gratis. -subtly entertain your guests allowing for conversation and networking. Once the booking fee is agreed upon and all the details of the event have been decided on and discussed thoroughly, Elaine will generate a simple Musician's Services Agreement and ask for a 50% industry-standard retainer fee. This will secure the date. The remaining booking fee is due one week prior to the date of your event. After the contract has been signed by both parties and the retainer fee has been remitted, Elaine will meet with you or speak with you as many times as needed to ensure the success of your event. She will do whatever she can to make sure that you are thrilled with her services!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Chicago jazz singer Elaine Dame sings – and people stop and listen. Since 1996, the woman Time Out Chicago calls “a jazz dynamo” and “a gem in the city’s vocal jazz scene” has been turning heads and capturing attention at the nation’s finest clubs and venues. From her multiple appearances at the world-famous Rainbow Room, Michael Feinstein’s 54 Below, The Triad Theater and The Metropolitan Room in New York City to her performances at the 2015 and 2017 Chicago Jazz Festivals, to headlining venerable jazz venues across the country, Elaine brings her virtuosic interpretations to vintage vocal gems and modern standards alike. It’s the joy she exudes with every note that makes Elaine’s performances unforgettable. A graduate of The Theater Repertory Program at California State Northridge, Elaine worked for years in Chicago’s theater scene before turning her whole focus to jazz. She’s a singer who understands the importance of stage presence. It’s no wonder the Chicago Reader wrote, “Ms. Dame has a winning stage presence and chameleon-like vocal flexibility.” For the past twelve years, in addition to her consistent work as a jazz singer, Ms. Dame has been a private jazz vocal instructor and was honored to have been a 2013 teaching artist at Orbert Davis’ Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Summer Jazz Academy, where she taught scatting workshops. Ms. Dame has also presented jazz clinics at The Chicago Academy for the Arts, where she presented clinics: Jazz Singer PR Bootcamp and Stage Presence and Stylizing the Standards. While her ensembles range from a guitar and vocal duo for cocktails and dinner to a full octet for dancing, Elaine is most often found performing with her trio or quartet for Chicago corporate events and Chicago weddings. She has provided music for such corporate clients as BMO Financial Group, Meyer Corporation, and Philips Healthcare, to name but a few. The musicians on her team rank among Chicago’s finest: a pianist who played with Dizzy Gillespie, Aretha Franklin, and Joni Mitchell, a guitarist who accompanied Barbra Streisand on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and a saxophonist who toured with Frank Sinatra whom the New York Times describes as in the virtuoso range.
