I love to train those who are 300, 400 and 500-plus pounds and who are afraid and don't know where to start.

    Shelia runs a wonderful program.
She works out the whole body and you really feel good after the workout. If any you have any issues, she will focus on them. She also works with problems, like knees or back. Shelia, is on time and does not miss workouts. I think she is wonderful. P.S. You will sweat!

Very professional and well equipped. Able to adjust to my workout level. Variation in techniques. Very satisfied in my experience thus far.

I've been a client of The Body Workout for five years. Sheila comes to my home, and has designed an exercise program for me that keeps me motivated, and is fun and flexible. Because of her expertise in exercise physiology she has been able to address my rotator cuff tendonitis and bad knees, which predated my working with her, as well as rehabbed a broken wrist and my back after surgery. This is such a bonus in a personal trainer, as it means that she knowledgeably adapts our exercise routine specifically for me.

Sheila is also very informed about nutrition, and has given me a number of excellent suggestions about nutrition in general, websites to use as resources, and even some specific recipes.

I absolutely recommend Sheila without hesitation as an excellent personal trainer.

Question and answer

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Make sure the person is certified and they carry liability insurance. The Body Workout trainers are all certified and some even have fitness degrees.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I have a post rehab and medical exercise specialist certification. If you are in need of a trainer who can get you in shape but also be able to rehab or work with any special needs(example: hip, knees, shoulder issues) you may have.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I have a masters in Exercise Physiology and I'm a group instructor and personal trainer. I've been teaching fitness with over 20 years of experience.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I had a client that started at 520 pounds and I was able to get her weight down to 340lbs before she moved out of town.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I do continuing education classes every year and I read fitness journals once a month. My favorite convention is the Midwest Mania Expo in October in Chicago.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. I'm starting to offer a dynamic back school to companies with high rates of lower back injuries. This is a work in progress with a start hopefully in 2012.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. You don't have to pay for a huge package, you can pay once a month or every two weeks. I try to work what works best for you. The Body Workout takes all forms of payment: cash, checks, credit cards and quick pay from Chase Bank.

You can see a Body Workout trainer once, twice, three times or more a week. Once a week is $70 a session, twice a week is $65 a session and three times or more is $60 a session. Group personal training is $40 per hour per person a session. It's cheaper to train with a buddy or a group. The first session is FREE!

The Bridal and Bikini Bootcamp classes start in April at 39th and Cottage Grove - Mandrake Park Track. The cost is $80 for 6 weeks.
