At Cream Cake Co., we believe your cake should be a delicious dessert.
Everything we sell is baked to order to prevent our products from sitting around getting stale. We bake from scratch and use only the best ingredients we can source: real butter, heavy cream, and fresh fruit. We never use mixes and we never freeze our products.
We had no intention of offering the same old buttercream frosted cakes that every other bakery makes because buttercream frosting leaves a greasy, gritty film in your mouth that no one likes.
Our crowning glory is our signature Sweet Cream Icing -- light, fluffy, and unbelievably addictive. There is nothing like it in Chicago -- trust us, we've looked!
Another pet peeve of ours was the use of fondant on almost every high-end custom-designed cake. We absolutely and positively will not ever make you a cake that has any fondant on it!
Fondant is a sugar dough that is draped over a cake to give it a perfectly smooth appearance. The problem is, fondant is a European product meant to go with European cakes that are far less sweet than our American cakes.
On an American cake that is already frosted with an overly sweet buttercream, the addition of fondant makes the cake nearly inedible. In fact, before we made the decision to not use fondant, I took a class to learn how to work with it. The instructor told us to just tell our customers to scrape the fondant off when they are eating their cake! What!?!?
Fondant adds a lot of cost to a wedding cake because the product itself is expensive and because it takes a fair amount of skill to get that perfectly smooth look. In keeping with our choice to use only fresh products, we will absolutely not cover your delicious cake with a product that comes in 50 pound blocks!
