Fransisco did an excellent job and repaired our Samsung French door fridge. It would not cool down enough and Fransisco knew the exact cause almost right away. He charges a flat rate plus parts. Great deal and no bs. We'll be recommending his service and sharing his number when people have issues with their appliances.

Sam (the pro) was terrific!! I had an issue with an interior leak within my fridge that's 20 years old and Sam came out within the day and fixed it no problem. He handled everything with such courtesy and care. I ran late to our appointment due to traffic and he waited patiently for me. He was very polite and respectful and explained the issue and resolution very clearly. He even cleaned up after himself with everything he did which some pros don't do. He's an exceptional professional and would definitely work with him again!!

Absolutely WONDERFUL! Thank you so much. Not only does he do great work, but he educates, and explains exactly what he's done. I had a new electric panel installed back in February, along with his "METER BEATER" device, (perfectly legal device), it somehow reduces start up electricity for the AC, Fridge, and other stuff. I hope I explained that right. Well, whatever it does, my electric bill went from $155 a month to $43- $56 every month. I can't believe that someone could get me so excited about saving on electricity. Thanks Vince. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Very responsive and prompt. Came up with a creative solution to my issue. Did not try to sell replacement parts I didn't need. Our fridge had a very bent door frame (shipping damage that worsened over time) and with a little labor and elbow grease, it works great again.

Arman came out to repair my oven and to look at my refrigerator. He is now my new Appliance Guy. He came out the same day , 2 days before Christmas. I couldn't find anyone else to come before Christmas. He came within 2 hours. He is really a nice guy. He diagnosed the problem and his prices were reasonable. He was in and out in a timely manner. Didnt leave a mess and took his shoes off at my door. I would highly recommend him and will definitely use him again in the future. 2 thumbs up!! He also gave us great advice on our other appliances!!!!

I hired Ken to fix 2 appliances. I really appreciated his understanding of the how the appliances work and his technical ability. Luckily, both fridge and dryer needed no major parts, just some "cleaning up". I will definitely call Ken again for future work.

Hired Mike to install used appliances (dishwasher, Garbage disposal, Fridge and microwave) at my rental unit. He Cleaned the area and back of the appliances before installing them. While scheduling the work, had to change the dates few times and he was accomodative for my requests. I would be happy to hire him again.

Mark was awesome! He came over the next day (Saturday) to fix the water dispenser on our fridge. He took the time to explain everything and after some troubleshooting and MacGyver like moves he got it fixed. It had been broken for three years and we had tried a multitude of options, but Mark fixed it within an hour. We're moving and I was sure to get a few of his cards for future work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes refrigerators?

Typically, appliance repair technicians who offer refrigeration repair also work with washers, dryers, dishwashers and other household appliances. While there is no formal training required to be an appliance repair technician, consider certification requirements, as the technician should know how to safely work with refrigerants (the chemical that keeps your fridge cold) and substitute refrigerants such as HFCs. You should also read reviews to get a sense of the pro’s experience and reputation. The appliance repair pro will come to your home, bringing all the necessary tools for diagnosis. They may need to order parts to complete the job, but all the work will take place in your home. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
