Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. We always recommend you research the curriculum the individual teacher uses. If it seems the teacher is only using method books to teach your children, then we recommend giving us a call. We can elaborate on the education we provide all students. We also recommend you ask about the successes of their students. Do they win competitions, do they go to the top conservatories or colleges? Even if your child does not pursue music, it is nice to know that the teacher can provide this service if you need it.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. We tell our families/students who study with us exactly what it takes to be successful in music. We can provide this service because not only do our students work with fantastic teachers, they also work with our senior faculty who are mainly the top musicians in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra or universities around Chicago. We know exactly what their expectations are to be accepted into their private studios or their colleagues studios at the best conservatories in the country.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What are your qualifications? Why are you different than the teacher who offers the same service for half the cost? Why should I trust you with my son/daughter's education? What can I expect after three months of lessons? Do you have experience teaching kids my child's age? What have your students accomplished outside of your private studio? What affiliations do you have with other organizations? How many recitals do you have annually? How much should my child practice nightly? What do you expect of me as a parent?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The most important thing we want to know from parents is their reason for introducing their child to music. Especially if it is a very young child. For adults, we want to know what their goals are and what they hope to accomplish short term and long term with their instruction.
