Introduction: Reiki was developed in Japan in the 1920's by Dr. Mikao Usui and was brought to the states in the 1930's. Reiki is a light touch healing technique which gently facilitates each person's own ability to find and maintain balance in the body, mind and spirit. The technique is based on science that there is an energetic flow in and through all living things. When this energy is low or congested, we are more likely to get sick and feel stressed. Reiki treatments are ideally held in a quiet and comfortable setting. While lying fully clothed on a padded massage table, the client’s experience is enhanced by soft music, scented candles (clients preference) and low lighting. With light touch, the practitioner will gently place hands on multiple locations on the client’s body. It is common for warmth, tingling, and/or movement to be experienced during a session as the client draws what is needed. An immediate positive response by clients is almost always expressed. A decrease or elimination of pain is common. Individuals who were previously feeling anxious or stressed often report a high level of relaxation and sense of increased energy and vitality. During a Reiki treatment, toxins are released from the body to facilitate healing. Reiki is "smart energy". It is direct from the Universe. Reiki goes to the root causes of illnesses and begins the healing process there. It restores the spirit to it's natural state of wholeness. I integrate energy medicine and energy psychology to enhance the process of releasing old patterns and to support the client in understanding their habits and beliefs on a deeper level to support their transformation. I educate my clients how to self-care to empower themselves. I incorporate the Biofield Viewer which is a non-invasive technology that maps your meridians and chakras to gauge my client's progress.
