Kelsey did an amazing job on my son's senior pictures. We were very anxious, on a deadline and the weather was not cooperating..time was running out! Kelsey to the rescue! She took amazing pictures, put us at ease and our 90 minute session was more than enough to accomplish a fabulous session! She had our pictures sent that night and edited over the weekend. It was an amazing experience! We are thrilled we found Kelsey on thumbtack and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for senior pictures! :)

We hired Kelsey to photograph our wedding in early September, and she did such an amazing job capturing our day. There were so many little details that went into the day, and Kelsey captured all of them. Kelsey and her second shooter Coco were very friendly, professional, and a joy to work with. Kelsey got our pictures back to us so quickly, and while looking through them, it was like reliving our entire wedding day from start to finish. I can't recommend Kelsey enough to photograph any event or special moment!

About this pro

I have been in business for nearly ten years and have loved every minute of it! I got my start photographing people when I was in high school, but officially opened my business my second year in college. Head shots, seniors, and family portraits was where I began, and five years ago I started doing weddings. Getting to know all the beautiful families and couples has been the single greatest joy of starting this business. Something that stands out about my photography business versus others is that instead of the photographer choosing all the edited photos for you from the session, you get to be the one to decide which photos are your favorite. From weddings to senior portraits, you get to keep all the original digital files from the day and then get to decide which should be edited and retouched. Most photographers decide for you, leaving many shots that you may have loved never to be seen by you and your family. You should have the final say, this way I am putting the power back into the client's hands. Meeting all the wonderful couples, families, teens, and children that I get to take portraits for, and being able to capture a special moment in time for them. I love meeting all the artists and professionals I get to take head shots for as well.

    Q & A

    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will either chat on the phone, via email, or meet in person to figure out just what you want out of your session. With weddings, we will check in at the two month mark and get a solid timeline worked out, and then we will again check in the week of the wedding to make any last minute adjustments. I am always available via phone or email and happy to answer any questions - no matter how silly you think those questions might be!
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received a major in Photography from DePaul University and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I was trained on both film and digital SLR cameras at DePaul, but digital is my main medium.
    • How did you get started doing this type of work?
Photography brings together my two loves- meeting people and attention to detail. Out from behind the lens you have to have great people skills to make it as a professional. Being able to meet beautiful couples, families, babies, and teens everyday is such an enriching career. Behind the lens you need to love the nitty gritty editing process, the framing, the lighting, the posing. I love making all those separate parts come together to get the perfect photograph.
