About this pro
We needed a professional photographer in Grand Rapids for a genealogy conference headshot event that we were sponsoring. I Googled into Thumbtack and was contacted by a few photographers but in my first minute of talking with Sheryl, I knew I'd feel comfortable working with her, and I offered her the job on the spot. Sheryl is both pleasant and professional and that's a great combination! She replied quickly to email questions, provided a formal contract with a requested addendum unique to the situation, and was ready to begin the photoshoot at the appointed time. As I watched her work, I was impressed with two things: her positive, supportive approach to setting people at ease and the knack that she had for coaching people in order to get the best shots. More than one person stood up from the chair, took a look at the photos Sheryl had just taken, and responded with a genuine, heartfelt "Wow, that's really good!" I think that says it all.May 6, 2018VerifiedSheryl T.'s reply
Cynthia, thank you so very much for the wonderful opportunity to work with you and Dean and the very kind words. I am busy now working on the portraits taken and will have them for you shortly. In the meantime, I wish you much success and if you need my services again, it would be my pleasure to provide them. All the best,
Sheryl was fantastic! She had the perfect balance of herding us into place and posing us for one photo then standing back to capture our natural interactions and reactions for the next photo. The photo quality is great and we ended up with so many amazing pictures. Sheryl was a cheerful and energetic yet subtle presence and her knowledge and professionalism made our wedding photography easy and fun.Jul 29, 2017VerifiedSheryl T.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I have an hourly charge for the some shoots like portraits and it varies between $150 and $500 depending on whether or not there is a lot of travel or upfront expense involved and what package is chosen. For weddings and events I have a set fee for different packages offered based on hours of shooting time, number of photographers and products offered.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I either do a phone consultation if travel is an issue or meet with clients in the near vicinity in person and cover all their questions, explain the process in detail, go over the contract and deposit and make sure they have a solid understanding of the process, the products, my style and most importantly that I have a solid understanding of their personality, their style and what they hope to see when they look at their wedding photos.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am constantly reading, attending webinars, looking at the work of other photographers, subscribing to newsletters, blogs, books and magazines related to the photography industry so I can constantly hone my skills and improve my work.
