Introduction: For the past 12 years, I have been teaching kids of all ages and adults the art of playing the violin. I was trained at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles, and continued my studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Now in Chicago, I perform in the city and at Northwestern University. My studio is based out of Andersonville. Not only do my lessons encompass the technical aspects of violin playing, but I also focus on music theory, as well as music history. Every aspiring musician is different, which is why I create individualized lesson plans for every student. Violin has been a constant passion for me, as I began playing at the young age of three. I love being able to share my love of music with students. Watching students develop their own musical voice constantly inspires me!

Madison was such a fantastic teacher for me! Not only did she provide me with basic fundamentals of music theory and violin technique, but she also guided me through repertoire that I didn’t think I could play. Maddie Alan-Lee is an inspiring violin instructor who really connects with her students. I wasn't fortunate to have Madison teach me violin for several years. In that time she was patient and innovative, teaching me how to properly play with good sound and technique. I would fully reccomend her to anybody who has a love of music and a desire to learn violin.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge an hourly rate of $60. This is based on years of experience playing and performing violin. I also give 30 or 45 minute lessons and am happy to do so remotely as well!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have an initial meet and greet lesson, where we get to know one another and talk about your goals. I will develop a "game plan" for you or your child, and we will start playing music!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Trained in violin performance at the Colburn School of Music. Professionally played and taught violin for 10 years. Studied Music at the University of California, Berkeley.
