Sam was great. He advised me on getting a new washer and dryer when the cost to fix wouldn't be worth it. I also had him fix and clean my dryer vent pipe. He put solid pipe in and removed almost all of the flexible pipe which catches lint. He also fixed my master bathroom light and exhaust fan. His prices are more than fair and his work quality is excellent. He cleaned up after himself. I have scheduled him to clean my house ventilation system and do some other work later on. Takes his craft seriously- a good worker.

Francisco was professional, prompt and polite. He was very helpful and accommodating in scheduling the work, knew exactly what needed to be done, how long it would take and had the part with him on the first visit. I would highly recommend Francisco to anyone with washer/dryer repair. And I would certainly call him again to work on appliances at my house.

Melvin spent around 3 hours fixing my washer and dryer. I had just moved into a new place, and these appliances had issues as I moved in. He was very empathetic to my situation, as the previous owners left these items in poor shape and the last thing I needed was to spend money on repairs. He also helped me by writing an extensive letter and sending pictures of the repairs, so that I could forward to the previous owners and try to recoup some of the money spent. He did an excellent job with my repairs.

Excellent customer service, explained everything, professional work. Would have Hugo come back if I need repair of washer/dryer; dishwasher; oven; or refrigerator. More responsive and significantly savings compared to ABT. Hugo diagnosed the problem by listening to the noise my dryer was making over the phone; ordered the parts and came and fixed it the next day. Unlike Abt who can't get you on the schedule for a week and charges $165 just to diagnose the problem; then ABT orders the parts and has to come back in a week, The customer is often without the use of their appliance before ABT can come out and between the 1st diagnostic appointment and the second repair center. With technicians like Hugo on board, Thumbtacks is going to give ABT a run for their money. Jeff Cantor

My husband and I really appreciated Kris’ efforts to get our dryer fixed the same day he came to diagnose the issue. He went to a parts store to get the needed parts and was back in a jiffy. He called the day before to confirm and when he was on his way as well. Very polite, professional and punctual. A++++

My wife wanted a new washer/dryer set, so we contacted Taylormade for the install. The service provided was very friendly, punctual, and extremely knowledgeable. It was almost as if I had a friend do the install for us. I am very satisfied with how much care he had for my new appliances and for my home as well. I would definitely reach out to Taylormade for future services and absolutely recommend them to anyone who appreciates great service and attention to detail. Thanks Taylormade!!

Vlad was fantastic...not only reasonable in what he charged, but very, very knowledgeable & professional. He not only diagnosed & fixed our leaking refrigerator, but easily fixed a problem with our ice-maker that 2 other servicemen couldn't. Then, while he was there, he fixed our dryer...which we thought was hopeless & needed replacement. Thanks to Vlad, we saved thousands! We highly recommend him...Thanks Thumbtack for leading us to him. Jerry & Cathy

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
