Mark officiated our wedding in Naperville, IL in July 2016. He offers a great presentation with flexibility to cater to couple's specific needs- all at a very reasonable rate. His prepared introductions and readings were lovely and we were easily able to edit parts to add a more personal touch to the officiant speech. He did a great job helping us coordinate the procession at both the rehearsal and actual ceremony. We highly recommend Mark to officiate your wedding! - Matt and Courtney

We hired Carrie for an intimate wedding of 80 people. Unfortunately our families did not enjoy their pictures being taken so we needed a photographer that was kind of invisible and not intrusive Carrie fit that requirement perfectly. She quickly took the pictures, with professionalism and southern kindness. You immediately felt comfortable with her. Her direction with our large families was swift and quiet.... And she has the ability to bring together a group of people (kids) quickly for a perfect picture. I would hire Carrie again without question. The quality of the pictures made everyone happy. She caught the essence of the wedding and the day perfectly. Our blended family is very happy. Thank you Carrie!

My kids felt comfortable around her and she was able to capture TONS of beautifully candid photos of our special day. I hope to use Kimia for all of our photography needs in the future. We had Henry and his beautiful fiancé DJ my son and daughter-in-laws wedding last Friday and I was over-the-top impressed with the service we received. From their set-up to the music and lighting, everything was diffidently "a touch of class"!! Henry was johnny-on-the-spot making sure the ceremony, wedding party intro, first dance, dad/daughter, mom/son dances, etc, EVERYTHING ran smoothly! Even things I did not think of, they did and took care of it. The music was everything we wanted and even when there was a lull, Henry corrected it and got the dance floor packed again! Thank you soon much for making my son's wedding a huge success! As someone was leaving they told me that you can tell a wedding/party was great by the amount of people that stay till the very end. I'm excited to say we had about 70% still with us at midnight! Success in my book! Thanks again!!

Big hit at the wedding. People are still telling us how much they enjoyed the photo booth. We had an album that people could paste in one of their photo strips and write a message to the bride and groom. The attendant was very helpful with this.

Life On Prints was an amazing photographer. Tony came from Chicago to shoot our small, intimate beach wedding. Our wedding started at 6pm, and it started pouring down rain at 5:30. As the rain started clearing up around 5:50, Tony talked us into putting the chairs back outside and giving our outdoor ceremony a chance as planned. So thankful he did! We followed his advice and had a beautiful ceremony. The pictures he took on the beach were awesome. Our goal was to take pictures that would capture the sunset, and he did just that. He used lighting tricks that brought out the beautiful sunset more than I ever could have imagined. He even ended up capturing pictures with a rainbow as the rains started to come back in after the ceremony. Tony was extremely flexible and offered advice that helped us get the memories we wanted in the form of pictures. He was very quick to get the pictures edited and sent to us as well. Great experience, great pictures, 5 stars from us!

We hired Harry for our small simple wedding. The wedding was held at Pinstripes in South Barrington. We have not received the photos as yet because it was less than a week ago. Harry was very professional, showed up early and seemed to be everywhere snapping pictures. I can't wait to see the photos he shot! Even at the reception I got several compliments regarding how good he was. Harry was very easy to work with and eager to please. I highly recommend him for any occasion. Very reasonably priced as well.

Ryan and his assistant Dan were amazing to work with. Prior to the wedding, Ryan was very responsive and answered all of my questions. He was available by phone, e-mail, and text. Over a 3 day wedding weekend, Ryan and Dan attended multiple events and captured every special moment plus captured posed photos for friends and family. I cannot recommend him enough, and would absolutely work with Ryan again if the opportunity arose.

Gene was a true professional! The props were amazing, payment easy, rate affordable, and my family LOVED the photobooth. We are so excited to have had GN Events at our wedding and end up with a file of photos detailing our friends and families having a blast. My brother missed the photobooth time slot, and Gene allowed him a last second photo! This is absolutely something will be talking about for many years to come. :)

From the time of our first phone call to discuss my son's party, Grace provided: excellent service, great recommendations and thoughtful attention to my aspirations for the event. Throughout the planning period Grace was quick to respond and handled all of the negotiations with vendors. Grace made it clear when there were action items such as contracts to sign or deposits due, constantly checked with me to see where she could support, and provided budget tracking tools through each phase. On the day of the party she was so supportive and helpful throughout the event - I couldn't have pulled it off without her!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

  • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
  • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
  • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
  • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

How much does it cost for a photographer for a wedding?

Finding the right wedding photographer can make a big difference for your ceremony. Nationally, the average wedding photographer’s price ranges from $800 to $1,000, but costs can be much higher in areas like Chicago, New York or Los Angeles where some couples spend $2,000 to $5,000 or more for the photographer they want. Factors that can affect your wedding photographer prices include the photographer’s reputation and experience. Heavy hitters can command top rates, especially during wedding-season weekends. Day of the week also affects your cost. You may get a $200 discount on wedding photographer prices if you get married on a Friday in November rather than a Saturday in June. Time onsite is also an important cost factor. Hiring a photographer to snap photos from the moment you wake up until after last call at the reception is going to cost more than five hours of pictures during the day. Multiple photographers, special lighting, and videography will also increase your costs. Ultimately you want to find someone who has a style you love and can provide the number of edited shots you want for a price you can handle. Learn more about hiring a wedding photographer.
