My tile floor was steam cleaned and looks brand new. The carpets looked better than I could have ever expected. Booking an appointment was fast, easy and best of all, they showed up as planned.

Very satisfied with the work Riverbend Cleaning did. I have a large home and was having trouble keeping up with all the cleaning tasks. I decided to try a professional cleaning service that could get the whole place clean top to bottom. I found Riverbend on Thumbtack, read lots of positive reviews, and decided to give them a try. Stacey is the owner. She is very responsive and accommodating. She answered all my questions and described her services in detail. I came home and found everything in pristine order. Hardwood floors, carpets, dusting, kitchens, bath all in good shape. Even cleaned out the inside of the microwave and got the kitchen sink white again! I definitely plan to use Riverbend again. Thanks Stacey!

I hired Kounty Cleaning to do a final "move out" clean when we sold our home. They gave an accurate quote and did a very good job cleaning the house from top to bottom. The fridge was spotless inside and out. Every drawer and cabinet was wiped out and the hardwood floors were spotless. I also will add that my Mom was there to let them and stayed to pack a few last items. They treated her with respect and kindness. Highly recommend!!!

They were very polite and explained what they were about to clean and how they were going to do it. At some points in their cleaning, they even showed me things they saw and took care of. When they were done, the vents looked great and you could not even see a crumb on the floor. I am very pleased!

I needed an urgent cleaning in my apartment on the Saturday after thanksgiving. All the cleaning cleaning services I called did not seem to be functional on a Saturday. Many even said you needed to book ahead. But Bel cleaning service was so quick to respond to me and went to my apartment 30 mins after we booked them. They did a very good job and the price was reasonable. I commend them for the fast response and same day service. I will always use them. Thank you Bel Cleaning Service.

Hare Krishna! We are very pleased with the Clean Queens. The owner Janell was punctual for the estimate and as well for the cleaning. Her estimate was comparable and very reasonable. Janell was thorough in her cleaning and ensured that we were satisfied before moving on to the next room. Tommy diligently cleaned everything even without our prompting and kept asking us about things that we missed ourselves. Overall we are very satisfied and it would be our pleasure to recommend them to anyone. Thank you Janell and Tommy. Regards, Vani and Raj

Floors were a tough job. First time didn't turn out as we'd hoped using a cleaner the manufacturer recommended. Sparkle Cleaning came right back to do a test spot using stronger cleaner. 100% satisfied with the result. They are great to work with, very responsive and we've actually hired them to do our weekly cleaning because Senedia was so responsive and professional.

I have had many people cleaning for me, but my experience with Elizabeth was the best. She works with absolute determination and does not back down from the most disgusting messes. She was a little more aggressive than necessary on a spider that she found, lol. I will definitely use her again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.
