Both Karen and Scott are very professional. Scott tried to get the job done on the very day but has to split it to two day due to the extreme heat weather. It is understandable that no one should work on the roof on the extreme hot temperature day. His work is very good and I would highly recommend them.

Sam was great. He advised me on getting a new washer and dryer when the cost to fix wouldn't be worth it. I also had him fix and clean my dryer vent pipe. He put solid pipe in and removed almost all of the flexible pipe which catches lint. He also fixed my master bathroom light and exhaust fan. His prices are more than fair and his work quality is excellent. He cleaned up after himself. I have scheduled him to clean my house ventilation system and do some other work later on. Takes his craft seriously- a good worker.

The garage and house were stripped down to wood. A new roof and skylight were installed in a day. When I shared my concern regarding the rain forecast, I was assured the work would be completed before the rain started. As promised, the work was completed and all debris were cleared from my property. Reasonable pricing and you get to select your shingles from a variety of colors and textures. I highly recommend General Roofing Inc., for your consideration.

Here to inspect AC/heating vents that were not performing well. Found the problem which was in the lower part of the furnace that needed cleaning. Mr. Mike cleaned that part and air flow improved greatly. He's knowledgeable, nice and does excellent work...highly recommended!

I had a very pleasant experience with Sean F. He came at the appointed time to inspect the hot water heaters and develop his free estimate. I chose him because of his competitive pricing and flexibility to complete the work quickly. Scope of Work: Reline the hot water heater flue with a properly sized stainless steel chimney lining system that is UL Listed and Tested and comes with a Transferable Lifetime Warranty. Replace all connector pipes from the appliances and install a stainless steel chimney cover to help keep animals and weather from entering the flue. Close off plate made of stainless steel for unused flue. Sean's guys came in and completed the work efficiently. I was very happy with the work done. I asked Sean's guys to take pictures of the roof and chimney for me and he did. That made me extra happy with his service. I whole heartily recommend him for any chimney work you need. Thanks Sean!

Wow is all I can say! Karol came out on a Thursday to give me a quote on a roof deck custome wood wall, which was very reasonable. His team came out the following Monday and completed the project by Wednesday evening...efficiency cannot be overstated! The work product was of great quality and we are very satisfied. Glad we have found a reliable contractor!

I really liked my experience with Denzel. He was very knowledgeable and let me know what he was doing (for example, he let me know that he was going to walk around to check the vents throughout the house) and explained everything clearly. Would definitely use him again!

I received a call from the company on the day of the scheduled visit saying that the tech was able to come out 2 hours earlier than originally expected. Alex was efficient and concise and didn't give me a hard time about spending over an hour on the roof just LOOKING for the correct HVAC unit since it wasn't labeled. He identified the problem, quickly went to the nearest store to purchase supplies and had our AC back up and running in no time. It was pricey, however I have no idea what the ballpark cost on our repairs would have been so we could have been getting a great deal. Who knows!

After reviewing three proposals, we decided to with Lion Roofing. I was able to see a roof they completed nearby and everything looked good. I had a great experience with David, just as stated in previous reviews here. We got our Roof, Gutters, and Soffits completed over the course of 2 weeks.

Markside, Inc saved the day for us! We had a leak into our garage from our siding and gutters and he fixed it for us. From his timely responses, timely completion of the job and quality of work, I can highly recommend Markside, Inc. I am just sad I didn’t have him install our siding, roof, gutters and windows originally and then we wouldn’t have had this problem. Thank you, thank you Markside, Inc.

Mobile home roof repair and reseal. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. Tony Zuko contacted me immediately and we arranged a visit. His contractor Tom came out the following day and estimated the repairs. He thoroughly explained my options. We then negotiated a fair price and the job was completed in one day, the following day. Nothing less than exceptional professionalism every step of the way. They will be returning next spring to my home for additional work I would like done.

Pete and Nick came out in a timely manner, very professional, great responsiveness. They came out and made the necessary repairs and i'm very happy we went with them.

Perdona construction was great to work with. They gave a very reasonable estimate always showed up on time and made sure I was fully satisfied before completing. They installed a range hood and vented out the ducting, this was not an easy job and required a lot of maneuvering as new issues kept arising once we opened the walls. Julio kept offering new options based on the obstacles that arose and made sure things were done the right way even though it became more time consuming. I will definitely use him again and refer to all my friends

I hired Marino's Roofing to install a new roof hatch and put a coat of aluminium on my flat roof. They came when they said and did what they said. He also fixed another small issues I had free of charge. Zero hassle.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
