I've only recently begun taking piano lessons, but I can already tell that Jon Novi is the kind of teacher who sees limitless potential in his students. His enthusiasm buoys me even when I think I've messed up a song, and encourages me to try again. Also, his piano skills are on point, and he does a good job of explaining how to read a score and the mechanics of playing the piano. Beyond piano know-how, though, I would argue that it is Jon Novi's zest for teaching that makes me glad I am taking lessons with him. You won't regret it.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
My son really enjoys the drum lessons and has learned a lot in a short amount of time. We are very satisfied!
Guitar Chicago is the best option for music lessons in Chicago! Their instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. They do a fantastic job of working with you to achieve your individual goals. I started as a beginner with no guitar knowlege, and they helped me achieve my goals of playing multiple open mics and music events. I've also been able to meet and work with other Guitar Chicago students! They are always willing to work with my busy schedule, which is very hard to find with other schools or group lessons.
Music lessons (Bass and Guitar). Matt is patient and makes learning an instrument as an adult fun. He caters to your tastes and goals, the lessons never feel like a chore, it is a nice break in the routine every week. Highly recommended !!
Three lessons in and our 10 year old son loves his guitar lessons
Marlena is the best! Not only is she very knowledgeable and talented, but she is also very nice. She is great at assessing her student's skills and challenges them appropriately. I am a 27 year old former trombone player who wants to learn piano, and I would recommend her for any age and talent level.
Aaron is great. Been taking mandolin lessons from him. I am an experienced guitarist and Aaron is adapting to how I want to learn well. He is very patient and flexible with grown up schedules.
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
Irwin is great with young kids, and my twin boys (almost 7) have been enjoying beginning guitar lessons with him. I like that he teaches them how to read music and encourages them to memorize songs. It's how I learned piano as a little girl and I'm enjoying seeing the boys progress and learn to understand written music. My goal has been for the boys to get used to a weekly music lesson and enjoy that as part of their weekly routine...so far Irwin has been a great fit for us and I highly recommend! :)
My son has been taking piano lessons with the Music Connection for more than a year. The teaching staff is excellent and my son is improving his piano skills weekly!
I've only been taking lessons (bass) with Matt for the past couple of months, but he's been great. Lessons are a good balance between informative and fun. In one lesson we could be talking about music theory for some time but then switch over to jamming out. He is also extremely flexible and has been able to accommodate my hectic, slightly unpredictable schedule. Overall, Matt is quite talented, very encouraging, and I can tell that he wants his students to succeed and improve on their instruments. I feel I've learned so much in such a little amount of time, so a huge shoutout to Matt for being a wonderful teacher!
I took guitar lessons with Shane for about 3 or so years and it was such a great experience. After trying many other places that gave lessons, the experience that I had with Shane really made it easy, fun, and enjoyable. I learned A TON while still getting to pick the style of music I like. I was able to explore different types of music and different artists that Shane introduced to me, some of which are among my favorites today. Choosing Shane at TriTone music was a great decision that made for a fantastic learning experience for me.
Got my 15 year old daughter guitar lessons with David & he was AMAZING!!
Great teacher, wonderful guitar player. More than I ever expected when I decided to take lessons, from anyone. I would highly recommend Ron for any level of guitar player. I feel very lucky to have him as my teacher.
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
We have been with Music Makers for almost 7 years and it has been a wonderful experience. Our daughters take piano lessons with Theresa and they have developed a true love and talent for music through their experience with Music Makers.
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
Sarah's been a wonderful teacher for our 6 year old grandson, Quinn. He's loving the lessons and practices! We couldn't ask for more!
I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Steve is a pro. Not just well-trained musically, or experienced in performance, but an attentive teacher. He listens carefully to the student. He adjusts his lessons to match Both the interest and needs of the student. He can dig down deep into theory without making it a mathematical puzzle. I have had More than a dozen music teachers in my life, he is a top quality resource. I plan to work with him for a while.
