I've been taking lessons with Jon for over a month now, and have seen my skill grow considerably. He is a wildly talented musician, and equally talented teacher. He has a deep passion for music, and seeing his students grow. Jon marries theory with practice - so if you're a nerd (like me) you'll enjoy the depths of his musical knowledge. I treasure my lessons, and look forward to many more.

I have been receiving voice lessons from David Eickstaedt for the past three years and made a lot of progress with my singing voice. At the beginning of a lesson, when he introduces a new idea, it seems as if it will never help me. But thirty minutes later when I'm applying it to a song, I always find that it does work. After all, he is the teacher and he really knows what he's doing.

Rodrigo Herrera is a wonderful tutor. He comes prepared and creates a plan especially for your child. Also, he is a patient and gentle man. My son really likes him and so do I.

I am an adult student who began lessons with Elif many years after my initial childhood lessons. It has been a wonderful experience in every way. She is teaching me not only how to play the instrument but musical theory as well which I appreciate as an adult learner. I highly recommend Elif for any adult who has been thinking of learning (or returning to) the piano!

I've been with Davide at guitar Chicago for just over 2 years now. I have absolutely loved my experience thus far. Prior to my first lesson I never knew how to play or even pick up a guitar! Now I'm playing over 2 dozen songs. Davide is always flexible with my scheduling and is always in a great mood.

Matt was my first ever guitar teacher and taking lessons from him has helped me get where I am as a musician today. He taught me how to solo, read music on guitar and was a positive reinforcement for me through the years. He helped me prepare my guitar audition for college. Any time I had a question, he had an answer. The way he taught has given me confidence as a player today. I would recommend him to a student on any level!

Our 8-year old has been taking piano lessons with Ms. Rum for a little more than two months, and she's learned so much already. Phil and Rum are lovely people. And we really appreciate the affordable rates they offer. Highly recommended!

Peter is an outstanding instructor. Very personable, knowledgeable, takes his time to instruct, demonstrate and then, while I am peforming the move, if needing correction , does so in a calm and easy way. He fit the bill for everything I am looking for in learning self defense in a non class type setting. You wont be disappointed in giving Peter a try. He has all the equipment, mats, and practice items to use as well..He's also very flexible given my schedule of the times I am in his area on other business, to schedule a lesson around.

I grew up playing the piano and took lessons as a child for 10 years. I played on and off as an adult but not for the past 5 years. Yuen Yee has made playing the piano again fun. She is focusing a lot with me on how to enhance the musicality of what I play and different techniques to play with the right dynamics and energy. Highly recommend her!

Irwin is the real deal! He is the only instructor I found with degrees in both Music and a Masters in Music Education, to say this guy knows his stuff is an understatement. I have had about 5 lessons with Irwin so far and plan to stick with him for years to come. He has taught me so many things already that I wish I knew years ago. He immediately corrected some minor bad habits that have had a major difference in my playing. As he put it, he wants to teach you music as a language, once you know the language you can play with anyone at anytime. This is what everyone should be looking for from a teacher, I am glad I found him:)

He taught my 10yr old daughter piano. She enjoyed the lessons and always looked forward to attending. We asked Shane to prepare and focus her lessons on getting into a specialized arts middle and high school. This school lets in 13 kids each 6th grade year, and they have hundreds of applicants audition. Our child audition and was accepted. Near the audition time, Shane accommodated extra lessons, moved normal lesson times, and did whatever was necessary to ensure she got was she needed to audition. There is no doubt that without him, our daughter wouldn't have been accepted. He also accommodated teaching me guitar before my daughter's session time. I felt like I was able to play the guitar after our first lesson. Anyone looking for lessons would be extremely happy learning from Shane.

Elaine has been giving my 13 year old son voice lessons and she is wonderful. She is helping him with sight reading and is helping him understand his range capacity. Elaine knows classic technique and I would recommend her to anyone who is looking to be a polished singer. Elaine helped my son feel very comfortable performing in front of her and was able to make him see the potential he has. Elaine has a sweet nature and a good sense of humor which helped put my son at ease. Thank you so much Elaine! You have been a great help! LL

Elizabeth Knox is very dedicated to her students, instructing with a level of detail and determination that inspires those she teaches to practice with the same intensity that she offers to them. Her holistic approach to vocal training can benefit voices of all ranges and skill levels, and I have made definite improvement in problem areas I had been unable to make a breakthrough with before. Lessons are never cut-and-dry-- each visit something new is addressed and worked on, from learning repertoire and refining technique, to stage presence and lessons on how our bodies produce sounds. I'm very thankful to have found her.

I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.

I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
