Introduction: Received Second Pfizer Vaccine on May 05, 2021: Booster on Nov 24, 2021: Please NOTE: Handyman is like Medical Doctor: I specialize in a few things. If you reach out, through the Thumbtack interface for work I do NOT do, Thumbtack will charge me if I reply to that job request. Even to be polite and say "thank you for asking, but that is not my specialty" ... It will cost me money to say that to you. Also; I am NOT set up for pick-up and delivery...I CAN NOT PROVIDE THIS SERVICE. Furniture and Equipment assembly starts at a 1/2 day Minimum of $149.00 plus parking reimbursement. There are very few exceptions. Picture and Mirror hanging starts at a 1/2 day Minimum of $249.00 plus parking reimbursement. There are very few exceptions. The Thumbtack system forces me to type in an hourly rate. I HAD to move my business away from the tiny jobs. One of my competitors is $119/hour, another is $60/hour with a 2 hour minimum. If you have a pile of work, I offer a competitive price! For my furniture and equipment assembly business: I bring; tools, experience, and spare parts to the job. Chicago has a number of world class universities. For a student, or person starting a new job, who is relocating here, and needs to furnish a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment or condo with IKEA furniture, and get it all assembled, I am absolutely your guy. I do that type of job all the time. If you have purchased one tiny little thing from Bed Bath and Beyond for $99.00 and you need it assembled, I am not your guy. It is my practice to download the assembly instructions ahead of time (in order to do that, I will need you to provide me with a link, or the brand name and model number). All jobs are by the project, and NOT an hourly rate. For the picture hanging: 3 years ago, I had one tiny case of picture-nails from Home Depot. Now, due to demand: I have two large cases of assorted picture hanging supplies, plus more in the van. I bring a Premium Service to my picture hanging clients. Rubber or Felt pads are placed on the lower corners of frames. Many of the discount art stores (Including IKEA) sell artwork that has no hardware on the backside. I will wire frames, or attach the D-Ring strap hangers, or the saw-tooth hangers, saving my clients a trip to a specialty framing shop. I routinely work with, and hang things that are unusual. Large mirrors, heavy things are just another day at the office. Presently; I work with around 10 Interior Designers who bring me in for picture hanging on large jobs. I have clients in McMansions all over the area. One celebrity client, and a number of clients who drive Tesla's. But, I also have senior citizen clients who are often on fixed incomes. I do not repair or restore high value antique furniture. These seniors often have broken or dysfunctional particle board furniture, and I can get it back to functional with a simple repair (using glue, and or some screws and brackets). This is rewarding for me. On some of the large IKEA jobs, when we are done, the room looks like something out of a magazine, and that is rewarding. Setting up large-scale storage systems in; garages, basements, walk-in closets so people can begin to get their clutter under control is rewarding.

I had Reese install a closet system I had purchased. From the start, Reese was very good about immediately responding to my request and speaking with me directly regarding the details of my project. Upon the date we selected for the project, Reese arrived right on time and completed the project within the designated time. He also charged me the exact amount we had previously agreed upon. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Reese again for other home projects and couldn’t more highly recommend him to others

Reese was prompt and brought along a helpful worker. He helped build a great Ikea frame from scratch with minimal guide help. The unit was not finished in a day's work due to time constraints. We had to switch the layout of the interior shelving and doors to compliment all the pieces. He showed me how to install doors and drawers so i could finish the project.

I wish to apologize for lashing out in my earlier response. Please understand a few issues: I have had customers give me cash gratuities at the end of the day, and then post bad reviews with no explanation. I have had a number of customers give me a four star review, but if you read the text, it is obvious that the customer intended to give a 5-star review. The issue here is that Thumbtack does not compel reviewers to enter critical information twice, the way certain websites will have you type your email address twice, or your created password – twice, to make sure that what you typed is what you intended. Many Thumbtack Pro’s have received inaccurate Star-count reviews because a person might be fumble fingered on their cell phone. Many Thumbtack Pro’s have requested a double entry for the Star-count, to verify what the customer types, but Thumbtack corporate refuses to provide that. It is now clear that you changed the original 2-Star review with no text, to a 5-Star review with complimentary text. I phoned Thumbtack; they refused to pull my original response. John, thank you so much for the good review, and making the effort to change your review. Once you have purchased the replacement products from IKEA, give me a call if you have difficulties taking the project to completion. Best wishes, Reese Turbin

Reese was fantastic! He took the time to make precise measurements for each of the 30 photos he hung (all in one day) in our home, and we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. His preparation is second to none, and I would not hesitate to recommend him our friends, family, and those reading this review. We plan on bringing Reese back the next time we look to hang photos in our home.

hi Jim: Thanks for the kind words. Four years ago, I had one tiny plastic tray of picture hanging supplies from Home Depot. I certainly do not enjoy hauling all the above pictured cases from the van to the job (especially when it is 3 floors up, and there is no elevator). However, with all the diverse types of artwork out there, and different types of walls [i.e. painted concrete, plaster upon lath, drywall, wood panels, etc. ] a well-stocked tool and supply kit is necessary to provide a solution. best wishes, Reese Turbin

Reese impressed me with his concern for safety, problem solving, and execution. I had new IKEA cabinets placed in my kitchen eight years ago, and one of them crashed. I uploaded the information and a picture onto Thumbtack and requested a new cabinet put in, but also I requested the person reassemble or reenforce my other cabinets. I was fearful of being in my own kitchen. Reese called and expressed what we needed to do. He told us the parts we would need. His first and foremost concern was for our safety, and that was before even hiring him. His estimate was fair and was outlined in detail. He and his coworker came at the scheduled time. I heard them problem solve and discuss the options that were available. Reese also included me in the discussion and laid out all the information candidly. Along the way he would stop and explain what they were doing and check with me to make sure he had my permission. This was not an easy job. They reinforced the cabinets that did not fall and they assembled and hung the new cabinet correctly. I love IKEA cabinets and I wish I knew of Reese eight years ago. The price Reese quoted was the price I paid. Reese is a professional. He takes his workmanship seriously.
