I've only recently begun taking piano lessons, but I can already tell that Jon Novi is the kind of teacher who sees limitless potential in his students. His enthusiasm buoys me even when I think I've messed up a song, and encourages me to try again. Also, his piano skills are on point, and he does a good job of explaining how to read a score and the mechanics of playing the piano. Beyond piano know-how, though, I would argue that it is Jon Novi's zest for teaching that makes me glad I am taking lessons with him. You won't regret it.
Mr. Bob has provided my children (8 and 9 years old) with piano lessons in our home as well as the studio. They went from not knowing anything about music to reading notes and playing songs within a couple of weeks. When they would get frustrated he helped them work through their struggles to show them they could be successful. I would highly recommend Mr. Bob.
My daughter started piano lessons with Stacey just a month ago but she is so excited every week to go. We have been very happy with how Stacey has progressed her - continually adding more difficult pieces to work on to see what she can do. This is our first experience w music lessons of any type and we are really happy with Stacey De & Co! Even my son, who never wants to try anything new, has started asking about taking drum lessons there. We couldn't be happier :)
Music lessons (Bass and Guitar). Matt is patient and makes learning an instrument as an adult fun. He caters to your tastes and goals, the lessons never feel like a chore, it is a nice break in the routine every week. Highly recommended !!
My son has been taking guitar lessons with Matt for two years now. Very professional, reliable, and each class is tailored to fit my sons progress. Would highly recommend!
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
Al Gorney tailors his music lessons to fit with each student's learning styles and interests. Students not only learn to read traditional notation, but also are taught to play by ear, improvise and compose. My children love working with "Mr. Al".
My daughter has been taking guitar lessons with Irwin for the past few months. She loves it! His affection for children, as well as his expertise is obvious. I would highly recommend him as a guitar instructor!
I contacted Jerry, inquiring about in-home guitar lessons for my daughter. He replied immediately with helpful suggestions of an instructor. When I realized my daughter wanted a female instructor Jerry went out of his way to find out more about my daughter and the kind of instructor who would be compatible with her. He then suggested one of two female instructors he felt would meet her needs. I was impressed with the time and effort he put into helping me find an instructor for her. This was extraordinary that he would take the time to help me when it did not directly benefit him and he did not even know me! I had originally contacted Jerry because of his highly regarded reputation for teaching and instruction. But now I also hold him in high regard for his kindness and dedication to helping others find their way into the world of music.
I got SO much more than I asked for connecting with Altered Stage. Not only does my membership get me access to unlimited guitar lessons with an awesome teacher, it also includes a great space with all the equipment needed, a welcoming community of likeminded and friendly recreational musicians, and the chance to play on-stage with my fellow members once/month. I went from being the guy who could play chords and learn simple songs through tabs to someone who understands music theory and feels comfortable jamming with strangers at the drop of a hat. A huge change from where I started and not at all what I expected. AS gives members the chance to get involved as little or as much as one wants. I could not recommend them more to musicians at any level.
I took guitar lessons from Fran. He is a very soulful and talented person. As a teacher, he is knowledgeable and helped me accelerate in my journey to learn guitar. You can't go wrong with Fran. He is one of the best!
I really enjoyed taking guitar lessons with Ryan! He took time to really listen to and understand what my goals were and helped me work towards them, which is no small feat for a complete beginner. He explained new concepts in ways I could understand and I felt comfortable asking for clarification. He also gave me a variety of different exercises (chords, scales, picking, strumming, full songs) to keep things interesting and to keep me engaged. I also liked that he added in a little music theory (at my request) so that I knew why I was doing what I was doing. In all Ryan is kind, chill, accommodating, talented, and thoughtful, so I would definitely recommend him as a teacher.
Nick is a great teacher. He is very knowledgeable and talented. I'm taking lessons for the acoustic guitar. He's great at listening to what I want to achieve and understands how to help me, given my current level and available time I can commit.
Paul has been a wonderful teacher for my 6 year old. He is professional yet patient with young students. He is responsible, on time, and easy to communicate with. My son loves learning guitar and we are so happy to have found Paul for a teacher.
Joe has been teaching my two young boys for a over a year and I cannot say enough about how blessed we are to have found him. Joe is skilled in many instruments, which allows my boys to benefit from learning the foundation instrument, the piano, but also branching out into drums, voice, and guitar all from the same instructor. In addition to being a skilled musician, Joe is also skilled in the art of teaching, which sets him apart from others we have tried. Joe incorporates music theory into the lessons so my boys can begin to understand important musical concepts in addition to continuing to learn to read more complex sheet music. As far as teaching, Joe is blessed with the ability to balance being firm with being nurturing, which can be challenging even in parenting. Joe is excellent in keeping my boys engaged and interested in their lessons by balancing learning/practicing material that is standard in learning, with material that they choose to learn such as current popular songs. Joe has a warm and friendly personality, which makes him very easy to work with. Joe teaches students of all ages including adults, which is helpful if parents want to take lessons as well. So, while you are scrolling down the long list of music teachers trying to pick a name "out of a hat", do yourself a favor and put an end to the tedious search, "call off the dogs" and contact Joe Grez. You will happy with your choice. Chris, Keith, and Nicholas
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
My daughter really enjoyed her first lesson with Doug and is excited for her next lesson.
In the lessons that I provide, I give useful information on how to practice efficiently and effectively, including guitar trivia that will interest anyone.

My foremost objective is to enhance my students' passion for music. I strive to help each and every student improve his/her ability to express himself/herself through his/her instrument. As your instructor, I will always appeal to your musical interests, basing our lessons on what you would like to learn. I will do so by using the knowledge I have gained from attaining a bachelor's degree in music from Bradley University as well as from my years of professional experience in a variety of musical genres. I am seeking dedicated and hardworking students, with a positive attitude, who additionally look forward to the opportunity for musical growth. Music is an unbelievable form of creative expression. My plan on our lessons is staying true to this value by being exciting and enjoyable for each of us. Because if you are not having fun playing music, then you are not playing music.
I am a traveling guitar teacher who has 33 years of experience in playing, touring, recording, and teaching. My course work is designed to be fun and easy to understand.
