Caryn is perfect! My parents worked with an interior designer when I was growing up, and I remember she would always push really fancy expensive furniture on them, so I was hesitant to hire someone when we bought our new home. Caryn understands that we are DIY people, and works with that, and our budget, in mind. She doesn't overcharge, and we got SO much done in our one-hour consult with her. She picked out paint colors for the whole house and I LOVE them. I would have spend hours agonizing over it had I picked them out myself. Worth every penny! I can't wait to use her over the years to design our home!

Caryn is wonderful to work with and we are so happy we found her. She is super efficient and gets things done. We had a previous designer who charged a fortune but we never made any progress. Caryn knows exactly what is needed and the value of her work is superb. She is trustworthy, responsive and professional. We love working with Caryn and will continue to work with her for future projects.

I found Caryn online and selected her based on her portfolio, client reviews, work experience and a degree in interior design. She was very easy to work with. There were no issues with availability and she was always on time, despite her living in Libertyville and my being in Wilmette. We started with the kitchen; her design work was very professional and detail oriented. She worked with me to choose a cabinet maker, contractor and select the countertops, tile, flooring and paint color. She has a designer's eye for color; all came together beautifully. The kitchen, powder room and back foyer were completed on time and within budget despite all of the work being done during Illinois lockdown for the pandemic.

Caryn has been great to work with on our 'lite' kitchen refresh of everything but cabinets. She quickly understood our aesthetic and took into account broader house design. She has presented options and suggestions that no matter how much research we would have done on our own, we would never come up with. Very grateful for her expertise and ease of working. Update: When it came to bringing some of Caryn's ideas to reality, things got difficult. She nudged us towards her installers who ended up being quite difficult to work with and forced us to change counter choices. Caryn also decided to not help us any more during this time of stress and change when we wanted to just pause and get our deposits back. She had some good suggestions but unfortunately not all of them 'worked' according to her installers. Unfortunately we will not be working with Caryn again.

I am very sorry for the stressful situation you encountered while selecting your countertops. Unfortunately, when you hired me to select them you stated that you did not want my help coordinating the installation to save money. Due to the unusual length of the run of your counters, my fabricator suggested that we select a book-matched pattern to avoid having to do 2 seams. Many fabricators would have just gone ahead and done the installation with the 2 seams without saying anything and you would have been unhappy with the result. I went ahead and found at least 5 other options for you and did not charge you for that time. On the day you were "stressed" due to your countertops, you knew my mother was having surgery, yet you called me no less than 4 times to discuss the countertop situation. I told you that she had just been diagnosed with end-stage aggressive cancer. (stage 4 pancreatic) On that day she was given 2 months to live and yet you had absolutely no empathy for my stressful situation whatsoever. All of my other clients who had signed contracts and actually paid me to coordinate all aspects of their projects were wonderful and understanding, thankfully.

I charge $99.00 an hour for most design work.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually I will do an initial consultation with a new client to walk through their home or office to determine the scope of work. I will discuss with the client what their budget is and figure out the best way to accomplish their goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Bachelors degree in Interior Design from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have 12+ years of experience in the field.
