The guys at Jiminy Chimney really came through for us on our fireplace repairs. We had several other compaines come out and give us a quote for the chimney repairs (chimney liner). The techs from Jiminy Chimney came out on time and they were very professional. They called 30 minutes before they arrived to let us know they were close. After the inspection they were able to tell us exactly what was wrong with our fireplace and what we could do to properly repair it. At the end of the day, Jiminy Chimney provided us with a competitive quote and were able to complete the work with in the day we scheduled the work. Thank you to Joe and John for all the extra effort they put in to keep our house clean during the install as we had our new Grandson here during the work. I had a technician out in October 2018 for a cleaning and inspection. I was told I would need a refractory wall replacement. That was replaced and then they did a further inspection and said I needed a whole new fireplace at the cost of $10,000 and immediately started asking me about insurance information to file a claim. It took weeks to get the repair estimate and quote and then I never heard back from them. I called the company and then received an email back from the office manager, Chad, who said that he would look into this matter but he never got back to me. I did receive a call from a lady at the business named Kim, but when I returned her call, I received her voicemail and never heard back from her or the manager again, even after sending a follow-up email to Chad. I cannot believe a business that prides themselves on honesty and being a "family" business would conduct business in this manner. Our tech noticed damage to your chimney pipe upon a second visit, and you were informed that additional work had to be done. We have offered you a full refund for repair of the refractory wall and the headache of this announcement. Fireplace and Chimney Cleaning or Repair
While I was not happy to learn that there are issues with my fireplace, Jim was thorough, efficient and cleaned up everything. He walked me through video of my fireplace and where there are issues. Recently had them out to clean and check our fireplace. We bought the house recently and never used the fireplace. They were very professional and thorough. The technician was very personable, and showed me how to operate the gas starter. I was also impressed that he advised to have them out based on the number of fires rather than trying to sell me on getting it cleaned annually. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?You should know that our pricing includes much more than a chimney cleaning. The price also includes a inspection by a well trained certified chimney sweep with a high definition camera to get a 360 degree view of the chimneys interior that is not visible by looking up or down the chimney. It also includes a full exterior inspection as well.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?We set up tarps in front of the fireplace to protect the floor from any dust or dirt. Then we sweep and/or inspect the chimney and fireplace for any damage. If there is any damage we document it and personally show you our findings. Upon finishing you will get a receipt via paper and email with our recommendations and a estimate for any work needed to be done.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?All of our technicians are certified with the Chimney Safety Institute Of America which holds the highest standard in the industry. Our techs go through continues training to stay updated with the latest codes and standards as well as technology our industry has to offer.
