Cesar is very professional, honest, reasonable, clean and an expert with all roofing repairs. I was previously scammed by a roofing company who didn't repair my roof correctly and also used cheap materials as well. After, 6 months, my roof started leaking again. In April 2017, I contacted Cesar whom was extremely helpful and knowledgeable during the estimate site visit. Therefore, I hired him to repair my flat roof and he installed natal on 2 sides of my flat roof and stripped it in with roofing membrane, installed a metal bar inside the gutter and stripped in the seams and installed new roofing membrane as well on other areas. Cesar did such an amazing job, that my sister hired him within the same week to repair some shingles on her home. I NOW have a Roofing Contractor to use on all of my future roofing repairs. Thank you Cesar! Job well done!

We had a new roof and new gutters installed. The employees of American Bonded Xteriors arrived on time and with all the necessary supplies. When they removed the old roof they protected the side of our home as well as the neighbors home. The tear off went very smoothly and the clean up was outstanding! Our new roof went up quickly and looked great. We went with the suggestion from the owner of the company for the gutter color and design and it looks absolutely perfect. The workers were timely, neat and efficient. Our new roof and gutters make the house look updated and fresh. Absolutely recommend for the professional service and design help. The house looks great!

As an architect, I was looking for the right person to help me with my complete re-roofing project in Naperville and after talking to over 8 contractors I had selected Joe of Fox Restoration because I trusted him and knew that he would do it right and fix any concerns that I may have...bottom line I was right, the project was perfect and he did take action when it came to my input and concerns...he not also showed up everyday to supervise his team but at the end of each day, after his crew left the job site, he even went as far as to do extra cleanup work to make sure the property looked orderly and was safe of any debris and nails on the ground. I would without any hesitation recommend Fox Restoration for any existing or new roofing project...[Thanks so much Joe, you were indeed a true professional who is detailed oriented like myself!] All the best, Alex

Needed oversize gutters, new flat roof on an addition, metal awning pushed out due to a dent, and fascia nailed down. Mike, the owner, came out for an estimate. Tony is employed by Mike and did an excellent job! He was thorough, persevered in 90 degree weather, cleaned up all around him to my liking. All in all, Quality Home Remodelers were excellent to have for the job we needed done. I will call on them again in the future and I will recommend them to my friends! Thank you, Mike and Tony!!!

They were very knowledgeable and detail orient in explaining how the repairs would be completed. All questions and concerns were address. I had my flashing repair and aluminum coating put on my roof. There has been a few storms in this area and I have no more leaks thanks Tommy and Tony at Quality Way Roofing! They did such a great job on my roof I referred them to my parents to have their brick retainer wall repair and tuck pointing on their front porch. They did a fantastic job!

3 months ago We had Easy Seal and Roofing replace our roof and gutters on our 40 year old home. Chris came out to give us a quote, and the crew was able to come out and complete the work right away. The crew was fast, polite, clean, and efficient. They also installed some much-needed ventilation in the roof. We are very pleased with our experience with Easy Seal and Roofing, and we recommend them to everyone we know. Highly recommended!

I will highly recommend this roofing company. They replaced my entire roof down to the deck and installed brand new high quality plywood. They are very professional and really know what they are doing. Dave Miller is the person I dealt with. Very honest business owner. He gave me the correct advise on how to move with my roofing project. Absolutely no rip off business. They arrived on time and got the job done on time. I had couple minor problems during the work but it was very well professionally addressed and I got reimbursed with no questions asked. Their pricing is very competitive. I would highly recommend home owners to contact APR contracting first before talking to other contractors. Thanks.

We Worked with Steve We had a roof leak on a flat roof. We had gotten about 4 estimates. We met with Steve and he was very friendly and professional. He was fair in pricing and gave us a 2 year warranty on a re- roof job. ( not many contractors will do this on a re- roof). We gave him 50% percent down and the rest on completion of the roof. The crew showed up on time , did a great job, clean up ( no mess) and then Steve came back to make sure we were happy. I am always worried when dealing with roofers but Steve, kept his promises and excueted the job perfectly. We will be using him again to seal the roof in 2 years and then do a complete tear off. Any roofer can do asphalt shingles but it takes an experience roofers to do a flat roof as often times requires using a torch to seal materials. We are very thankful that we found this company. I hired OrTinoRS to remove a TV antenna from the roof of my house. Very decent price, great communication and promptness. They took photos of the spot on the roof where the antenna was located, showing how they patched up the holes. As a complimentary service, they inspected the whole roof and presented me with photos of every spot where the shingles were missing/broken. Very likely, I'll be hiring them again to fix up the broken shingles they spotted. Great job! Thank you!

I'll start off by saying that my partner and I purchased our home five years ago, very well knowing that it was a MAJOR fixer-upper. Nothing-but-dirt front yard, asphalted backyard, old plumbing, old electrical, and a leaky roof, just to mention a few of the issues we knew of. Over the past five years we've worked with at least three different "contractors," always friends of friends, or referrals of coworkers, that we chose because we were always choosing the lowest priced bid. Then we finally came to meet Justin from Integrity Construction while getting bids for our bathroom remodel. From the beginning, the professionalism demonstrated by Justin was very much appreciated, and his courteous manner in handling all of our issues and questions was absolutely impeccable. It was a breath of fresh air to meet a REAL contractor that stood behind what he said. In the past we had always received bids from other "contractors" that would change constantly throughout the construction process of whatever project they were working on at the time. They gave us a firm bid and stuck to it the entire time, working within our budget to achieve the bathroom of our dreams. Although this was not the lowest bid, his extensive knowledge and very evident experience in remodels won us over. We have learned that in this home repair/renovation business, the saying that you get what you pay for is truer than ever. A full bathroom remodel that included demo, framing, extensive tilework, plumbing, electrical, painting and all the perfect finishing touches was done with so much care and detail that both my partner and I were blown away by how easy and painless the entire process was from beginning to end. Justin took care of all the details, kept us in the loop on the progress and informed us of all timelines. They were very careful to work around our home and made sure to tape and seal everything up to keep the dust from flying all over the place, which we were very happy about. The design choices we had previously made were enhanced GREATLY with Justins recommendations and in the end we got a bathroom that I could literally die in. It's GORGEOUS, functional and absolutely a pleasure to use - which we do every single day. We have already begun other jobs with Justin and the crew at Integrity Construction around the house and will DEFINITELY be recommending him and Open Hand Remodeling to all of our friends and family for their remodeling needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
