Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Our approach is innovative, interactive and customized. Our program allows for flexibility and takes into account that your dog may have more drive one day than the next, and we allow our sessions to accommodate that. We work WITH you to help you teach your dog. Our program also offers a lifetime guarantee of callbacks and the opportunity to attend any of our group classes at your convenience for as long as you would like. This offers you an opportunity to take what you've learned in your personal sessions, come to a group setting and learn from others and socialize your canine. We are truly unique. OUR MISSION: TO PROVIDE ETHICAL, PROFESSIONAL HIGH LEVEL TRAINING SERVICES TO THOSE SEEKING AN ENRICHED RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR CANINE AND A DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THE CANINE THINKS, ACTS AND REACTS THROUGH PERSONALIZED, INDIVIDUALIZED TRAINING PROGRAMS FOCUSING ON HUMANE EDUCATION AND POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT. The opportunity to work with such a variety of dogs and people. We work with any breed... 7 lb. small breeds to 100+ lb Great Danes. The diversity in our training makes all of it enjoyable and the ability to bring pet owners some calmness and happiness in situations they thought were impossible is great.

I can't say enough good things about Tony Gordon of Woodlawn Canine Academy. My wonderful (and bonkers) pit bull had learned everything there was to learn at "Big Box Pet Store" training, she was still impossible to handle in real life leash situations. Tony helped make her into an absolutely model citizen. It's been 6 years, and people still routinely tell me that I have the best trained dog they've ever seen. Since then he has also helped me train my (totally gentle and sweet) pittie Kimberly for therapy dog work--and she's amazing. Tony uses a combination of positive reinforcement and humane correction to help dogs learn that they have to do what is asked of them _even when they don't feel like it_. This is the difference between a dog who is TRAINED and a dog who knows a few tricks. I am forever grateful to Tony for teaching me what I needed to know to make my dogs good citizens and representatives of their breed and for helping me become the trustworthy "parent" that all dogs need. Whether you have a small dog, big dog, shy dog, aggressive dog...whatever. Tony can help you and your dog communicate effectively and live happily together.

We saw Tony at the Arlington Park Pet Expo in March and knew we were going to hire him immediately. The way he handled the dogs was amazing. Our two dogs were out of control. We got them as puppies (they're pointer and possibly lab mix) and took them to PetSmart for training right after. Those classes were ok, but nothing like we saw with Woodlawn Canine. Woodlawn Canine came to our house and worked with us there until our dog's were ready to go to the group classes (I LOVE that we can go to the group classes for free forever once we purchase the package!). In the beginning we weren't following up really well with what we were supposed to. Woodlawn sat us down and explained how it just won't work if we aren't involved. We had to put the time in to get the results we wanted. Once we started listening and doing what we were supposed to the results were amazing. We now have two dogs who don't crash the door when the bell rings, don't chew anything, they heel great and are really well behaved. People always stop and ask me about them and I always give Woodlawn Canine as the answer. I would refer anyone to Woodlawn. It's a worthwhile investment and you won't be disappointed.

Hello Nicole - The Arlington Expo was our kickoff with our new organization and it allowed us to meet some incredible people and dogs! We're glad to have crossed paths and happy you're enjoying the results!

I had been contemplating additional obedience training for my very energetic seven year-old German Shorthair/English Pointer mix, Watson, when I discovered Tony Gordon of Woodlawn Canine Academy while at the Arlington Park Pet Expo in March 2015...and I knew that I had found the right trainer! I watched Tony doing informal mini demonstrations with his dog, Echo. I also spoke with Connie about dog training and the programs offered by Woodlawn. I am very happy that Watson and I signed up for the private training at my home! As part of the training Watson and I have begun to attend the group sessions as well. Not only is Watson being trained, but I am also learning how to handle my dog (yes, I am also being trained!), which is an important and integral part of the whole training process. Training, which involves both corrections and positive reinforcement, is a commitment and ongoing for us between scheduled sessions with Tony. Watson no longer pulls on his leash during walks and that is only one of his accomplishments. I am just completely amazed with some of the other things that Watson does or does not do since we began training! I just gotta say that Tony is a caring and dedicated trainer! I am one happy Woodlawn Canine Academy client! :D

Karen, it was really enjoyable working with you and Watson! You came a very long way through hard work and dedication - and we're happy you stopped by our booth at Arlington!

I looked for a trainer for a year before I found Woodlawn Canine Academy. I'm so glad I found them! I love that they come to the house and then as my dog improved he got to participate in the group classes. It was also great that I was getting an experienced trainer with such a great resume. Tony has been training for many years and it shows. His positive approach and willingness to work around my schedule and needs made a huge difference in the success we had in training. I've been through the retail training and had even had two other private trainers for a while. I learned quickly that finding the cheapest trainer isn't going to get me the best results. You get what you pay for and Woodlawn Canine is worth every penny! My husband, me and my kids and our Lilly would recommend them to anyone!
