Margarita is amazing and I have only had one lesson so far. This is so great, I don't even know where to start. I decided to actually have 2 lessons per week already instead of just 1 to see where that takes me because I feel like may be actually do something with my voice with Margarita as my instructor. She knows how to improve the quality of your voice with special techniques and I would actually know because I ran an opera company and I'm a professional pianist. She has a great personality to go along with it, has fun with it and knows how to make you feel comfortable during the session which is what you should want if you are taking lessons. I didn't know what to expect and was nervous before Margarita came but now I'm definitely not nervous anymore. My goal is to be able to play piano and sing at the same time and I will hopefully be able to do that at some point. If you are looking for an instructor, look no further!

I recently finished my master of music degree in jazz studies at the University of North Texas, one of the most prestigious jazz programs in the world. I also hold a B.M. in vocal performance (with a minor in Piano) from Illinois Wesleyan University. I'm currently available for gigs, clinics, session work, and private lessons instruction. I teach voice lessons (with an emphasis on good, healthy technique) in all styles, piano lessons, improvisation, jazz fundamentals, and theory. I've been gigging and teaching professionally for six years, both in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and, more recently, in Chicago. Lesson prices vary depending on the circumstances of each student or family, but will not exceed $60/hour. I teach out of my home studio in Bucktown, and lessons are available by appointment. Please feel free to call me with any questions!
I offer voice and piano lessons and coaching in all areas of vocal and instrumental performance. I'm experienced in vocal coaching for theatrical monologues or delivering pitches or speeches. Voice lessons include learning breathing, diction, and interpretation. Piano students choose between traditional or Suzuki instruction. I am an expert in teaching music theory, including note reading and solfege. Students receive programs tailored to meet their needs and geared for their age, from children to adults. Individualized programs begin with simple piano or voice lessons, but can include more complex coaching in all aspects of performance, including stage fright at the student's request. I am happy to help you achieve your goals, whether you want to learn for your own enjoyment or get ready to compete. I have helped many students compete successfully, both for school and professionally.
Greetings and welcome to my studio profile. As a professional singer and teacher, I strive for artistic excellence and customer satisfaction. I want you to be excited about your voice and the progress you are making and will do everything I can to support your growth and progress. I have 10 years of experience in private teaching and would be delighted to apply this knowledge to help you reach your musical goals, whether auditioning for your school musical, preparing for college auditions, joining a church choir, or auditioning for an opera company. I teach a variety of musical styles including classical, musical theater, jazz, and some pop. My goal is for you to discover ease and freedom in your singing, increase your range and vocal stamina, introduce you to different styles of music, and ultimately equip you to sing with confidence and meet your personal musical goals. I graduated with highest honors with a Bachelor's degree in Voice Performance from University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and recently completed my Master's degree in Voice Pedagogy and Performance from Westminster Choir College, graduating with distinction. My studies have taken me abroad to performing programs in Austria, Italy, Serbia, and Canada. I am an active performer and am experienced singing opera, classical music, jazz, musical theater, choral music, a Capella and Baroque chamber music. I am currently singing with the Chicago Master Singers and recently toured with them to Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia. In addition to private voice lessons, I am trained to tutor music theory, music history, sight reading, beginning cello, and Singing diction for Latin, Italian, French, and German. Lesson Details: Lessons are tailored to fit your individual goals and interests. I teach in increments of 30, 45, and 60 minutes based on the student's age and level of experience. Lesson Structure: 5-10 min. warming up your voice 10-15 min. vocal strengthening exercises and solfege (to improve sight-reading and musical skills) 20 min. repertoire coaching 5 min. final questions and assignment for the next week. Enhance your voice with Rak Vocal Care I teach adult singers to develop and enhance your voice, so you can sing and perform and record as you most want to. Preventive care is shared because everything you eat, drink, feel, think, do and experience affects how you let your voice come through you. I also work with adult singers who have voice problems or vocal damage (hoarseness, erratic voice changes, discomfort, lack of endurance or reliability, bowed vocal cords, polyps, nodules/nodes, vocal fold swellings, issues with allergies, asthma, sinus, post-nasal drip, excess phlegm/congestion, esophageal reflux, nasal sound production, etc.) to heal and resolve your voice issues and help you be able to sing with confidence and reliability. I work with singers, from beginners through advanced performers of any level of experience and in all types and styles of music. You may see my website for detailed testimonials from all types of singers. The sessions may also be shared on Skype. The sessions are recorded for you with vocal limbering and warm-up routines, vocal cooling-down routines and vocal healing routines that you can use for the rest of your singing and vocal life. I am a vocal therapist, voice teacher, vocal performance coach and alternative healing consultant. My book on Rak Vocal Care is being published by Balboa Press (of Hay House) within a year, and my book "Becoming Energy: Affirmations For All Creative Beings" is available on Kindle at Amazon. I sing three songs on YouTube, which illuminate my ability to sing what I teach. My RakVocal website has free info that you can download. Singers are vocal athletes! Come and enhance your voice and share yourself with your world!
I learned more in my first lesson with Janice than I have learned in a year of voice lessons. She is extraordinary!
James worked with my daughter on guitar and some voice lessons for a little over a year. He was always very reliable and in sync with where my daughters strengths and weaknesses were. He always made sure my husband and I were in the loop with how the lessons were going and what his expectations for our daughter were. She made a lot of progress quickly and James encouraged her to step outside of her comfort zone by having her perform in front of small crowds at open mike nights at a local venue. We really appreciate all his hard work with our daughter and wish him the best in his future ventures.
Sarah is a wonderful vocal coach. She is very professional and is genuinely interested in helping to improve your vocal techniques regardless of your musical background. She listens to your suggestions and will provide vital insight in order for you to reach your projected musical goals. Under Sarahs guidance, my vocal capabilities definitely improved and it made a big difference in the studio. As a singer of R&B, my voice was stronger, louder and more controlled. Sarah is one of the best vocal coaches on the market and she will help you to find your true voice.

"A vocal coach is a music teacher who instructs singers on how to improve their singing technique, take care of and develop their voice, and prepare for the performance of a song or other work. "Vocal coaches may give private music lessons to singers, or they may coach singers who are rehearsing on stage or who are singing during a recording session. Vocal coaches are used in both classical music and in popular music styles, such as rock and gospel. "While some vocal coaches provide a range of instruction on singing techniques, others specialize in areas such as breathing techniques or diction and pronunciation." - Wikipedia
