Arbor Tutors could accommodate the tutoring needs we had plus tutoring for the SAT/ACT. Also, their online model provides flexibility for my daughters complicated schedule.
Wendie was an excellent tutor. Easy to schedule with and found a time and convenient location close to home. My son's score went up several points from the first time he took the ACT (before tutoring). His Reading score had a big increase send his math score went up dramatically too. My son mentioned that the tutoring also helped him in his math class at school. I would definitely hire Wendi again.
I met with Steve for 5 sessions to help me get my GRE math score on track. I had taken a Kaplan course before I took the GRE for the first time, but I scored abysmally in Quantitative Reasoning-- so low that I doubt my Kaplan work had any effect upon my score. Private tutoring was my last ditch effort to improve. Steve directed me to official GRE study materials (which were much more true to test than Kaplan's) and helped me recognize question patterns and develop a testing methodology. After ten hours working together I scored a whole 14 points higher in Quantitative Reasoning, which translated to a raise of 25 percentile points! What especially impressed me about Steve's work as a tutor was his flexibility and availability. I had only three weeks between our first tutoring session and my second attempt at the GRE, and Steve accommodated my schedule beautifully: he even was willing to meet near my house. He also kept me engaged and accountable through text and email, always underlining that I could call or email him for math help in a pinch. Thanks to Steve's direction and study aids, I have more than surpassed the Quantitative score goals I had when I signed up for tutoring. Steve definitely gives you a plan (and it doesn't hurt that he's a nice guy!). I would definitely recommend him to any test taker looking to improve.
Our son has been working with Carol for over 6 months preparing for the ACT test and also receiving subject-area tutoring in geometry, English/Reading and Earth Science. Carol is very professional, extremely smart, wonderful to work with and has demonstrated her ability to work effectively with secondary students at all skill levels, including those with special needs and current IEPs. Carol has helped our son prepare for the ACT in all subjects and provided detailed strategies, not only for test preparation, but for each element of the exam. She uses teaching, demonstration, practice and testing as an intertwined process that has really benefitted our son. Last semester, he earned a 4.0 for the first time and made the National Honor Society. Carol also is wonderful with homework, projects, and writing assignments. Her background in education is AMAZING. She not only has multiple degrees and certifications, but has an extremely high IQ, and has extensive knowledge of both high school and college curricula. We highly recommend Carol, and urge others to utilize her expertise, experience and her wonderful personality with kids for all your family's tutoring and testing needs. Allison has been working with my 6th grade daughter tutoring her in math and i cant believe the difference in such a short time. Its so nice to see my child have a level of confidence when it comes to math that she has never had before
We did both online and in-home tutoring and liked both.
I was so impressed with Kevin and couldn't be happier that he reached out on thumb tack. I was in search of a tutor to help me pass the Elementary Education Math Content Test (very similar to the ACT math). Not only was Kevin able to teach in student friendly terms, he was SO knowledgeable of the types of questions and concepts I would need to know. Kevin was always very punctual and approachable when ever I did not understand something. We were able to meet before tutoring began to create a plan that we would follow together. By the last session, we covered every topic in the amount of time I hoped for. If you're in need of any math tutoring, I would HIGHLY recommend Kevin. Hands down the absolute best tutor I have ever been in contact with!!
Tim did a fantastic job tutoring my son for the ACT. He totally understood where to concentrate their time. Highly recommend.
LAW Methods is a MUST-DO!!! The Elite program was a short three months with flexible scheduling. The quality of instruction is unbelievable. It was not a classroom with thirty other people, where the instructor just feeds techniques and guidelines. I received one-on-one tutoring with a top-notch instructor. He made sure to work with me to make me a LSAT-taking machine. We went through all the previous LSAT until I could reach top marks. By exam time, I breezed through it and expected a high score. No doubt at all. AND I got it! LAW Methods is the way to go.
My son goes to math tutoring and he loves it. Sini is a great tutor. She is very knowledgeable and works with you to get you what you need . She explains each concept in a simple language that was easy for him to digest. She is very flexible with her scheduling and charges the most reasonable rate. I would definitely recommend her as a tutor.
