Introduction: A practicing studio artist and educator, I have shown my work widely within the Chicago area and across the United States. I have a Bachelors degree in Art from Smith College and an MFA in sculpture from the Art Institute of Chicago. I am a full time, tenured art professor at Dominican University in River Forest, IL with over 15 years teaching experience. This has ultimately led me to develop a custom art education business, Slowfire Studios. Slowfire Studios is an inclusive, private art studio where we offer a variety of materials, processes, and techniques! Students learn ceramics, wheel throwing, drawing, painting, fibers, sculpture and printmaking. Although we are a functional studio in Chicago, IL, we also offer remote private teaching services in painting, drawing, and sculpture. We also offer consultation services for students seeking to enhance or build an art portfolio for college admissions.

Noelle is always available to answer questions and provides a comfortable space for art making. The class variety allows for personal growth in 1:1 private sessions or small group lessons. The environment is inviting to both beginners and experienced folks. Ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, and fibers/sewing all in one place!

The teachers are knowledgeable and flexible as well as extremely well prepared. My daughter has taken drawing, wheel throwing, and fiber arts. She has learned a lot and makes beautiful things.

I had zero experience with art before going here, and really enjoyed taking lessons in hand built ceramics. I’ll be working toward wheel throwing next and I can’t wait!

Noelle and her team provide more than just 'classes'. They offer a safe and encouraging environment for my girls to express themselves in art and really have a talent for effectively guiding and challenging them but also helping them express themselves through all types of art! They absolutely love to be at Slowfire Studios!
