I am the author of Mirages and Flashbacks: Reflections of a Front-Line Gulf War Marine. The book was edited by Joyce Gilmour. The first thing that impressed me about Mrs. Gilmour was her writer-editor/ team-concept method of editing. I would email her sections of the manuscript which she downloaded, printed, edited and express-mailed back to me. She not only made accurate corrections in the text, but added helpful comments, notes and questions in the margins which caused me to think – and led to a bantering of ideas back and forth between us – about how to make some sentences and paragraphs more understandable and concise and make my work a better book as a whole. I would thereafter make the corrections and send her an email responding to the comments and notes and answering her questions, often submitting to her questions of my own. She would usually return my emails within a matter of hours and never more than a day or so later. The second thing – and equally as important – with which I was impressed was her editing abilities. She caught even the most miniscule of grammatical and language-usage errors and assisted me with combining paragraphs and rewriting awkward sentences. She also helped me with big-picture things such as ensuring events were in the right sequence, that disjointed parts were reworked so that they flowed, and that paragraphs and sections would make sense to targeted readers. She did all of this while working within my writing style and without altering any of the themes of the book. I was very pleased with Mrs. Gilmour’s efforts. I highly recommend her as an editor and I intend to retain her for my future books.

I’m very pleased to recommend Liz Richards as a ghost writer for your project. You will find that she is not only a talented writer but also a hard worker and highly ethical. Liz is an experienced writer who knows grammar inside and out. It is, however, her ability to work together that would set her apart for your project. In my experience, not all good writers are good collaborators. While working together, I discovered that she was especially skilled at listening to my ideas and asking pertinent questions before encapsulating my thoughts into concise, readable text. It sometimes felt like she could see inside my head and put it down on paper. I was also impressed by her stamina. If a draft was needed quickly, she put in the extra hours to be sure it was done correctly and on time. She offered thoughtful suggestions for changes without making me feel obligated to accept. Sometimes her suggestions prompted a conversation that uncovered ideas that neither one of us had previously thought of. All of this made her extremely easy to work with. Finally, ethics are critical because writing is a very personal endeavor. To be frank, you need to be able to trust the person you are working with to help communicate your ideas without without sharing them elsewhere. You can trust Liz Richards. She has a deep faith and a strong moral compass. I think she’s great and look forward to working together with her again in the future.

    Cindy is the best of the best! She is someone you just want to get to know. She handled everything so beautifully and led us through it each step of the way. Our wedding was better than we could have ever hoped for! She made the entire wedding so personal and even wrote the most incredible poem about our lives together. We are going to have it framed as a lifelong reminder! With Cindy performing our marriage, we always felt comfortable that everything was in control and would go well - and believe me, that's a great feeling! After all, your wedding is your most important day! Cindy doesn't only have a lot of experience marrying people, but she has been a speaker for years! So she is very used to talking to big crowds. This was so wonderful, because she came across so natural, she could be heard well, and really knew how to "present" the ceremony so that it all comes off without a problem. She is also great for those awkward "on the spot" moments where no one knows what to do or say. (We had one of those with my mother-in-law, but Cindy handled it beautifully!) Everyone was so pleased and very impressed. She led us through our rehearsal so we all knew what to do and what to expect. She helped us to write our vows without being intrusive or pushy. She was sooooo helpful! She organized our music for us, helped us to chose readings and just put together and overall ceremony that blew us away! Oh, and she also created our wedding bulletins!
