I am so happy with the landscape design and installion by Kyle and his team. The project could not have been smoother. Kyle presented a bid and design plan which was agreed on and that is exactly what was delivered on the day scheduled. I asked for a couple of changes to the plant material which was taken care of and did not affect the installation date at all. I was impressed with how quickly the project was completed, because I had anticipated weather issues. Would definitely recommend Kyle to my friends and plan to call on them again in the Fall.

Roberto did a great job on a really hot day. He took the plants I bought and planted them, put down the landscape mesh and spread the mulch. He knows about the plants and advised me how to take care of them for the next couple weeks.

Very satisfied with our experience: professional, timely, willing to give advice and also to listen to what we wanted and needed! Incredibly easy to work with. Also does 3D imaging so you can see what you will get, and cleans up the space every day after work. Full service too, plants, gravel paths, pavers, walls, plant boxes, trees (they even installed our mailbox). You can’t go wrong, they did such a nice job on our space that all the neighbors were asking for their info. On top of that they have great pricing. Highly recommend.

Andy and an assistant arrived on time. We reviewed the job to be done and agreed on a price. Work completed was better than I could of ever done myself. Andy and his assistant were hard and diligent workers. I would hire them again. I would recommend them to anyone needing lawn care and maintenance. His prices are to low I think but that’s why a good tip for honest and hard working people like him are appreciated.

I received quotes from several lawn services for a spring clean up which included both my front and back yard. Amanda’s Lawn Service was very responsive to messages. They came out within two days and did more than I expected them to do for the price that they quoted. Even my neighbor commented that they did a great job and weren’t taking any shortcuts. Very pleased with the end result.

I hired Olvera Tree Service and Landscaping 2 years ago and my landscaping has never look better. My grass is healthy, grub free and green. I had them take down several trees and was amazed at the skillful and careful way they cut the branches. The crew installed my mulch before a party and stayed late to make sure it was perfect. I highly recommend them for all your landscaping needs.

We hired Becky Doughty to cut our corner lot lawn and they did a great job! They arrived on time, cut the grass to our satisfaction and blew all excess on the sidewalk. Also, used the trimmer to edge the areas which also looked very nice. We really appreciate their service and the fact they came out on a Saturday!

Did laminate flooring; cut and stained trim for flooring; he did some painting of my house; was very careful with belongings. I had a hole punched in my garage roof and he also repaired this for me. He was very polite and responsible, timely and best of all reasonable quote.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
