Spend time really thinking about what you need to accomplish to grow your business and what it is you want this provider to do for you. The more clearly you can see your goal in your head, the easier it will be to see if what the provider is offering matches up. If you need to convert more of your current site visitors to clients, for example, and they keep talking about ways to bring in more traffic, you're really not on the same page and you won't be happy even if they bring in a million visitors a month.
