Both Karen and Scott are very professional. Scott tried to get the job done on the very day but has to split it to two day due to the extreme heat weather. It is understandable that no one should work on the roof on the extreme hot temperature day. His work is very good and I would highly recommend them.

Worked with Ethic Roofing on some maintenance my roof needed. Out of all the companies I had come out for a quote, Cesar with Ethic Roofing was the most genuine and didn’t give me a questionable feeling like others. He was prompt with email response. He and his son did the work on the roof and showed up exactly when they said they would be there. Fantasy job and great guys to work with. Highly recommend Ethic Roofing!

We had a new roof and new gutters installed. The employees of American Bonded Xteriors arrived on time and with all the necessary supplies. When they removed the old roof they protected the side of our home as well as the neighbors home. The tear off went very smoothly and the clean up was outstanding! Our new roof went up quickly and looked great. We went with the suggestion from the owner of the company for the gutter color and design and it looks absolutely perfect. The workers were timely, neat and efficient. Our new roof and gutters make the house look updated and fresh. Absolutely recommend for the professional service and design help. The house looks great!

We had two decks power washed and stained by Kosterna Construction. They were able to do the job right away and for a good price. The decks look great and the hard-working team was great about moving heavy flower boxes and furniture. They even threw in a wash and stain for a big wooden flower box on our roof deck. The only reason I can't give a perfect rating is that they did not always arrive at the time we had arranged. It was not a problem for me as my schedule is flexible, but other Thumbtack users may want to be aware of this.

we have hired CALI to replace an old sunroom by a new construction. It was a big job that took time but the result is great. Claudio and his team built a new room that is about 900 sf. large. They put a new roof with skylights, installed French doors and windows, new tiles and parquet floor and a wood burning furnace. As I said, it took and some patience on both sides but it was worth waiting. We are still working on finishing the interior but doing it on our own time. Thanks Claudio for a job well done at a very reasonable price too.

Amazing service. I could not have asked for a better roofing company. Everything went amazing. Ali worked well to help process my insurance claim. He picked a great color for the roof. His contractor showers up early and worked late until they fished the job. I had a whole new roof and gutters in 3 days. I'd recommend him to anyone!

I called Quality Way Roofing & Construction to have the flashing on my roof repaired. They came out the next day to give me an estimate and started the work two days later. They were very knowledgeable and detail orient in explaining how the repairs would be completed. All questions and concerns were address. I had my flashing repair and aluminum coating put on my roof. There has been a few storms in this area and I have no more leaks thanks Tommy and Tony at Quality Way Roofing! They did such a great job on my roof I referred them to my parents to have their brick retainer wall repair and tuck pointing on their front porch. They did a fantastic job!

James first did a thorough inspection of my roof and then gave me a fair quote. He picked up several replacement parts on his way to do the job, fixed everything I asked him to do, and even used a leaf blower to clean out my gutters while he was up on the roof. Thumbs up👍. I would definitely hire him again or recommend him to others.

We had 2 masonry chimneys that we're leaking causing extensive water damage to both chimney's. Both chimney's need to be replaced. PM Masonry came in, provided a reasonable estimate and rebuilt both chimneys. One chimney was a in the middle of the house on a very steep, peaked roof. The PM Masonry team came in and did a great job on the rebuilding of the chimneys. Their team was professional and courteous. While the projects were going on I had many discussions with the team. In all cases where a decision was necessary, PM Masonry stood by their quote and did the right thing. They did not take shortcuts. I highly recommend this company and we will use again them in the future.

George and his staff did an excellent job with our roof and siding! I would recommend everyone to use thumbtack when you have hail damage to your roof and or siding. George was professional and did a great job dealing with my insurance company. He would not let State Farm cut any corners and fought for us to get the job done correctly. Insurance companies are known to cut corners and take the cheaper route, but George being an adjuster handled our appointed adjuster from state farm. George put our insurance company in there place and went above and beyond! I will only use Gold Standard Restoration for roof and siding going forward! Thank you Gold Standard Restoration!

Jeff is amazing to work with. He is the only contractor that actually got on my roof, took pictures and explained in detail what was going on. He also is helping with the process of going through my insurance, which is such a great help! I would recommend him for any roofing job needed!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

  • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
    • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
  • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
  • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
  • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
  • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
  • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
    • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
