Our daughter (Kivi) started with the recorder in 4th grade, and soon graduated to clarinet. By Middle School, she was taking lessons from a classical teacher who advanced her skills markedly. Upon reaching high school, she was in demand by the jazz band - whose leader persuaded her to take up the saxophone. Kivi loved the sax, and loved jazz, but clarinet remained her first instrument. I thought of the great jazz clarinet players: Pete Fountain at the top of a substantial list. But we could find no one who could teach jazz clarinet. Finally, we attended an event at VanderCook, and one of the presenters gave us Jon's name. Kivi studied with Jon for about two years. I was disappointed with the amount of time Kivi had to spend practicing Jon's lessons - what high schooler has time for anything? Nevertheless, Kivi learned a great deal from Jon, and was the only student to ever perform a clarinet solo in our high school's jazz band history ("Jack the Bear"). Jon was unique in my experience in that he taught what Kivi wanted to learn - rather than imposing a rigid course of instruction. If you are considering private lessons that offer something both valuable and unique, please look no further than Jon Novi.
Jerry and the trio were a perfect fit for our event. They provided excellent music and adjusted their volume to the room perfectly. I would highly recommend the trio to anyone looking for solid jazz musicians! Our cocktail party was a huge success and I know Jerry and the gang played a huge role in this. Thanks again guys!
I love jazz and the newer styles these musicians were playing. 10/10!!!
Laura and the band played at my 30th/my dad's 60th birthday party. They were very easy to contact and work with. Everyone at the party loved listening to them play!
More than just a teacher. I took guitar lessons with Paul for eight years. He helped me realize my natural ear for music, and allowed me to figure out what I wanted to learn. Our lessons were always different. Sometimes I would bring in songs that I wanted to learn, and sometimes he would have things he thought I should know how to play, which helped me learn similar songs later on. When I was applying to college and needed to learn how to read music and play jazz guitar, he tailored all of our lessons so that I could learn those techniques quickly and most importantly, efficiently. Paul's personality transcends the teacher-student relationship, which allowed he and I to become very good friends. Paul William is an excellent teacher for whatever you need to learn. You can't go wrong taking lessons from him.
Kathryn was exactly what I envisioned when I set out to find a jazz singer for my father in law's birthday party. Her voice is seriously gorgeous and she was very easy to work with. She was flexible with me throughout our time planning the gig and was able to accommodate all of my requests. While her song list is quite vast, there were a few special tunes she specifically learned for this event and they sounded fabulous. She found the perfect accompaniment in a very talented guitar player as well. Throughout the time Kathryn performed and for hours afterwards I received compliments from other guests for finding such a talented duo. The men and women alike were very impressed with the quality of music, song selections, appearance, and demeanor of both musicians. Everyone thought the music really added something special to the party. Most importantly, my father in law was absolutely amazed with what wound up being the perfect gift for him. He was very impressed and I was so happy to see his face when Kathryn sang one of the songs she especially learned for us. He'll never forget it. I'd hire Kathryn again in a heartbeat.
Nick and his mate, Sam showed up on time....ready to work and continued to play three sets during a three hour period. This is my first time hiring a band for my personal party and I could not have worked with a better pair. I will definitely use him again. Well worth the money. Nice guys and open to my inexperienced suggestions. Lol! And I haven't even mention the quality of their music (jazz) was outstanding. They were the hit and highlight of the party.
The EcoLimes are great musicians. They have a fun sound with lots of interesting mash-ups of popular songs. They were easy to book, showed up on time and took care of their own set-up and tear-down. They took longer breaks than agreed upon.
I hired TLC to play my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. Carlyn, the manager was a pleasure to work with. She was organized, professional and responsive. The day of the wedding it had been raining all day and though it was damp it had stopped by the time of the ceremony. The musicians didn't want to play because it was damp and they were nervous about their equipment so after some stressful discussions they set up in a covered gazebo near by. They played custom learned selections for the processional and recessional which meant a lot to my fiancee and I. Their talent was great and they added a lot to the atmosphere of the wedding. They played the cocktail hour in the tent. I would definitely work with Carlyn again in the future.
La Fuerza Versatil is a perfect example of what a well committed and disciplined band is all about. They also play all kinds of music, from Banda, rancheras to cumbias and zapateados. Their performances are always great. The crowd really enjoys their music.
Do not have enough words to express how great the Band Sundance was for our wedding. Their ease of communication beforehand put both of us at ease that we would not have to worry about this vendor. The bands choice of songs kept everyone of all age groups on the dance floor. We received numerous compliments of the band. Whether it was when they were playing, or when they catered to other music the crowd liked when they were on break. Their professionalism, talent, and love of getting people out on the dance floor is second to none. I wish we could have had more time with the Band Sundance, and would recommend them to anyone looking to have a live band. Whether it was 70s-90s music or country music, the Band Sundace put on an amazing show. Also the fact they took candid photos while playing was something that went above and beyond what you woould expect of a band. Again, there are not enough words to express how great they were at our wedding.
Artist collective is a very professional business that has the musician in their best interest. I personally have worked with them and it was so nice to have them take care of the "business" end, so I could concentrate on the creative end with my band. AC set us up with a photo/video shoot and it was a success! Highly recommended by us!!
My son learned to play guitar there at the age of 5. He is now 12 and has continued his lessons and has formed a Rock Band where they all practice and perform through the music school. They have all learned a tremendous amount and it continues to be a wonderful experience for them.
Nothing but the highest compliments to Pete Kruse and Krusin' Music. The guy has an incredible gift and talent that is contagious. Five ⭐️s across the board!
Did a great job working with the students in my middle school jazz ensemble. He helped students form combos and did a great job helping young trumpet players develop their range and sound.
The band has played at private events events that I hosted and I have seen them dozens of times at public venues. I keep coming back for more because they get better every performance
We had a birthday party for my husband's 55th and Rock Boxx could not have been more perfect! Their energy level accommodated the pace at which we love to celebrate! Family and friends have nothing but excellent comments about the social band members and their music! Can't thank them enough!
Dear Mike and Dave, Thank you both so much for a wonderful evening of entertainment. As the event planner for our company it is always hard to know what type of entertainment will work with our large and diverse group needless to say you guys knocked it out of the park. First with the Jazz music during our social and dinner, then with the dueling pianos after dinner. I love how you worked the crowd and got everyone involved the best was the little cow bell competition you started between both of our presidents! It is always a good time when you can see top executives of a company let loose and have fun. :) Everyone had such a blast, I will definitely keep you guys at the top of my list for next time.

Artist Bio Funny name. Great band! Most groups start with rock and pop and play blues when they run out of material. They start with blues because it's the basis for all-American pop music since early in the last century, then they take great material and do it the way they think it fits for the band. For 22 years, Chainsaw Curtis and the Creepers have been playing a distinctive brand of roadhouse blues, rock 'n' roll, and R&B music all over Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and eastern Iowa. More about Chainsaw Curtis and the Creepers Curt Rodeheaver started playing music on the piano at age nine and picked up the guitar at thirteen. Gigs for high school dances led to his first nightclub work in 1970. He continued to play in bands and in 1981 in Ithaca, New York with band mate Glenn Davis and started a weekly Blue Monday jam session at a night club called the Nines, which is still going today. According to Living Blues magazine, it's one of the longest continuously running jams in the country. In 1989, Curt moved to Southern Wisconsin from upstate New York to open the Silver Moon Blues Oasis in Darien. He got the name Chainsaw from a line in the Huey Lewis song "Cool Is the Rule (But Sometimes Bad is Bad)." The Creepers started as the house band at the Moon backing artists from Chicago. Curtis would occasionally take the band out of the club and do gigs in other area venues. When Curt left the Moon in 1993, he continued to book the band in clubs, at festivals, and parties. There have been many Creepers over the years (more than 35!). The first Creepers album, Too Much Like Work, was released in 1996 and included eight original pieces and three covers. Dave Luhrssen of the Milwaukee Shepherd Express called it one of the best locally produced blues albums. Curt's song "Nine Months of Winter" got to 102 on the Garageband.com over all charts in a field of more than 20,000 songs. The 2000 release Pantloads of Fun included eight original songs by Curt. John Noyd of Maximum Ink magazine called Pantloads a "smokey barbecue reminiscent of ZZ Top and Los Lobos." Chainsaw Curtis is currently working on material for his third album - (Tragedy's Easy) Comedy's Hard. The Creepers have more than a hundred years of experience on stage. There is video of the band on our Reverbnation page. It's blues! It's electric folk! It's American music! Crank it up.
