Saul provided free on-site quote within 48 hours and then was back out 48 hours after that to do the job. Did exactly as I asked, cutting down 5 trees and cutting back some overgrown landscaping and cleaned up all within 3 hours and for an extremely fair price. Would definitely go with them again!

We had some shingles blow off in a wind storm. Steve came out the day after I posted on thumbtack to give me an estimate and talk me through what the problem was and how he would fix it. The next business day he was here as promised and repaired the roof. He also inspected the rest of the roof and caulked all the nail holes from the original job that had not been done. I would recommend Green Line Roofing to a friend.

Our roof rafters were installed without proper bracing, so the roof had begun to sag. Stacey put in knee wall supports under both inclines. He was knowledgeable, courteous, efficient and cleaned up when finished.

Super Easy! Had some shingles lifting on the roof. Harry came the next day and not only did he fix the initial area but walked the entire roof and glued down a bunch more that had lost there seal. Reasonable rate, nice down to Earth guy, will use him and this company again for future business.

This company helped me out of a bind. I needed to get drywall repair done in my bathroom same day and they arrived in 45 min of me calling. Down to earth and trusting worthy couple of guys. They defiantly earned my business. Will do future business for sure.

Mr. Disinger took care of an ice dam on my roof which was causing water from snow and rain in winter to flow back and cause wetness in an upstairs bedroom (carpet near baseboard) and water in my garage. He also painted a small section of the wood near this area and cleaned my gutters. It took him about 6 hours to complete the job. He came to my house to take a look and to give me an estimate for the job the very day I first contacted him. Luckily for me, he was in the area. I like the way the materials and resources needed for the work and the labor were priced before the actual estimate was given. He kept in touch with me as the estimate was being figured, and that took a few days because he wanted to make sure he was getting the best price for the supplies. Everything Mr, Disinger used for the job was high quality material. Mr. Disinger was prompt and even gave me a call one time when he could be at my home earlier than expected. He snapped before and after photos and showed them to me after the job was completed. Everything looks great, and I am not expecting anymore ice dams. The rain will flow more freely from gutters, too. I have no complaints, and nothing could have improved my experience with Mr. Disinger. I highly recommend him for any job you need done around your house!

We had them work on a variety of things...replacing rotten wood, replacing doors and installing steps for a shed, replacing the frame and a door on the garage and repairing a portion of the roof to eliminate a leak (three others had tried and failed) to name a few. We could not be happier with their work and they were friendly and professional too. No doubt we will be contacting them for future work. Highly recommended...they're good people.

We own several properties and have had Dan do varies work at all of them. He's done roofing, drywall, demo and custom tile work projects for us, his work is always excellent and fairly priced. My wife love the custom master bath with the travertine tile floor and glass waterfall in the shower. I would highly recommend Little Dutch Acres for any home project!!

Doug is a high quality, high integrity and trustworthy good guy. He also happens to be an amazing general contractor. Great value. Extremely diligent and his attention to detail is unmatched. We will be using him for many jobs around our home from flooring, to drywall repair, electrical and general repair. He's also well connected with a number of other service providers (plumbers, electricians) that he was able to mobilize for our project. We are so lucky to have found him. Thanks Thumbtack. Thank Doug!!!

I have recommended Seniors Handyman to many of my friends. Gordon's pricing is very reasonable and the quality of the work is outstanding. From fixing a roof to installing a glass tile backsplash to installing light fixtures or a chair rail and trim, I've never been disappointed with the quality of the work. He is also always willing to work around your schedule and completes jobs on time. I feel fortunate having a handyman I can trust.

I had cement board siding put on my home. Maximus also installed a roof and gutter covers a few years ago. Both jobs were executed quickly and excellently. I would not hesitate to use them again.

When we began requesting bids to have a 23 year old roof replaced, we quickly realized there are few contractors that follow through with their commitments. Storm Guard was one of those that did. After meeting with their Indianapolis sales team and receiving their fair bid, we met with the owner and roofing supervisor. They showed up on the day we had agreed upon, did a great job and cleaned up all in one day! Everyone we worked with were very professional and friendly too. It was a great contractor experience. I would highly recommend them!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

    • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
      • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
    • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
    • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
    • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
    • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
    • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
      • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
