- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to discuss with them the goals that they have for their dog. I try to give them a realistic idea of what it will take to get to the point they are working towards. Communication is the best way for everyone to get want they want out of training. During training sessions, I follow an educational approach. I start by modeling the skill while explaining every step and the reason why I am doing it that way. I then allow the human/dog team to try it together with guidance. We practice many times until the human/dog team can practice correctly on their own. I like to give at least a week for the human/dog team to practice together on their own and follow up with them to see how things are going.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
