The pet sitters were understanding of our dogs individual needs. They also worked to meet our schedules.
We have a daily dog walk, as well as they cover our house sitting and pet sitting over the holidays and sometimes in the summer if we travel. It's a great service, they truly love the animals and we love having them in our home. We know that things will be taken care of at our place while we are away! Use YBFDH for all your pet care needs!
Earlier this year we went on a short vacation, the first since we became homeowners, and for lack of forethought our only option was to board our cat for the 3.5 days we were gone. While she made it through okay, we couldn't help but think it would be less stress for everyone involved if we just let her stay at home and had someone check in on her, so we began shopping for pet sitters prior to our long vacation this fall. To give some context, we had certain criteria for a pet sitter. We didn't want someone who we couldn't trust to take the job seriously, and truly wanted to hire someone who does this primarily for a living. There's a measure of trust that goes into this - you're giving someone virtually unrestricted access to your home and hoping that they will take care of your beloved pet as you would. It's a tall order. We had quite a few respondents to our postings, and out of all of them we chose Helene after our initial meet and greet. The things that stood out to us the most were Helene's earnest interest in pet care, her depth of knowledge, and her bonded/insured practice. This is her profession, not just something to make some money on the side. Helene asked all the right questions of us up front, which is what we were looking for. I'm happy to say things couldn't have gone better! We left on vacation for 12 days this autumn and received daily updates via email to let us know that our cat was being well cared for. We asked Helene to stop by for half hour daily sessions, inclusive of feeding/maintenance/play, and it seems to have gone off without a hitch. It was really great to have one less thing to worry about, and they seemed to have gotten along very well. We will definitely be contacting Helene again in the future for any pet sitting needs and encourage anyone reading this to do so as well.
We have been using Christy's Canine Care for about three years now and have had an excellent experience. She has a wonderful way with dog's. Our dog, Lexi, is quite skittish but Christy worked her magic and very quickly, she and Lexi where best friends. Our neighbor has a dog that no dog-sitter was able to get near enough to even get a leash on her. But in the first visit, Christy had the leash on her and was able to walk her. My neighbor caller her a "dog whisperer".
They were wonderful and understanding with my shy (and blind and hard of hearing) Cocker, and he was well taken care of while we were on vacation. He was so shy he was reluctant to go outside, which led to much more work than I ever expected! They texted regularly, and did a great job of letting me know how things were going. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for caring dog walkerss.
Lainey did such a great job taking care of my cat over the thanks giving weekend. It was my first trip away from him since we moved to illinois so I was nervous with a new pet sitter. My cat bonded to Lainey right away and she sent me daily updates. He was happy and healthy when I arrived home. I'm so happy to have found her!
I cannot say enough great things about Dina. Dina is my first pet sitter and from the start she made me feel very comfortable. Dina makes sure to send text messages and pictures to let me know how my pets are doing. My dogs are not the easiest, and Dina has such compassion that within a day my dogs consider her part of the family (and so do we). I HIGHLY recommend Dina!!!!
Kathy was great and what she offered was piece of mind. This was my first experience with a pet sitter and I thought it went well. She sent me a short text after each visit and when I got home i found a daily log of activity. My puppy was well taken care of while I was away. I have already made arrangements to use her services again.
Susan is an awesome pet sitter!!! She has been taking care of our cats for years. We never worry when we go out of town. Her veterinary experience is an added plus. If there ever is a problem, she will know what to do. You can tell she really cares about animals.
Mary and her husband helped us out in an emergency when our regular pet sitter couldn't take care of our dog. I would have no problem calling them again. Also, the reference they gave told me she would highly recommend them. Price was reasonable aso well.
My experience as a pet sitter for "At Your Home Pet Sitting has been wonderful! The Biggest problem in having an extraordinary partner is that I will never be happy working for anyone else. Thanks, but you have really limited my career options because I have no other options but to follow you wherever you go. Thank You!!!
Judy took excellent care of our animals while we were on vacation. She looked in on them 3 times a day which was what we had agreed upon. Judy che ked on them once each morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening which was also when they were fed. The animals included our two dogs, our son's two chinchillas and our box turtle. We were iimpressed with the fact that she tried fixing the water bottle for one of the chins. When that didn't completely succeed, she went and purchased a new one. Judy definitely took care of the needs of all our animals. We came home to a clean house and happy animals. We have already made arrangements with her to come back again in October. In short, Judy's service was outstanding.
This business saved my dog and my job!!! Paul, the owner of Wagging Tailz, showed such compassion to my dog as well as to the situation at hand. He came from a long distance away to pick up the dog when I was called away on business. He took great care of the dog who was sick and could not get along with other dogs. He was caring and the dog loved him. The fact that I did not have to decline that trip, because I knew my dog will be taken care of, meant that I could keep my job at a very stressful time in the organization. Paul is the nicest person I met and I wish all dog walkers and house sitters will be like him. Thank you Paul and Wagging Tailz Services!
Jason has exceeded our expectations as a pet sitter. He not only does the basics well, like walking, feeding, etc., but he also keeps things clean and neat after each visit. And not only is it true that "Jason loves dogs", but also the dogs seem to love Jason which makes for a good working relationship. Jason is an A1 pet sitter. He is the best!
Lisa has been my pet sitter for over 4 years now. Loyal, trustworthy and dependable are her 3 greatest attributes and the most important part is my dogs just love her! She is just great with them! She has even rushed one of my dogs to my vet when she was at my house pet sitting. My dog cut herself on my fencing deep enough to require stitches. I highly recommend her!
Jay is extremely attentive to details. He takes time to study your personality and lifestyle and pairs you up with the dog that can fit into that personality and lifestyle. He is always available to help answer all my questions about the health of my dog and even other dog owners he has no relationship with. I have learned that when it comes to dogs, Jay is always right. My dog got missing one day due to my negligence, and he gave me steps on how I can make sure my dog finds her way home, and before and hour, my dog was barking in front of my door. Jay is an exceptional and professional dog whisperer and I would always recommend him.
Roxanne from Purrfect Pooches has been dogsitting for us since the Fall of 2009. She made fast friends with our energentic St. Bernard. She is reliable and flexible and has helped us out on numerous occasions. She has watched our dog for vacations that were a week long, a weekend or when we were going to be out for a long day and needed our dog let out just once. She plays with our dog, pets her and brushes her, lets her outside, feeds her, walks her and lets her watch Animal Planet. She also brings in the mail and will water plants and I feel good knowing someone trustworthy is watching over our home and with our dog while we're away. The best part is Roxanne leaves us notes, calls us, and texts us picture updates letting us know what her and our pet are up to - and our dog always looks like she's having a good time!
Entrusting Mr. Barkypants, my first-born son, to a dog walker is akin to how I imagine it might feel to someday entrust a less furry child of mine to a nanny: He/She sure as hell better be committed, conscientious, able to survive blizzards*, and love Mr. Barkypants as his/her own. Using this (perhaps slightly unreasonable) standard, I interviewed many, many dog walkers before I found Walks With Zara Chicago Dog Wlalkers, a dog walking company that Russell and his business partner own and operate. Though I haven't yet had to put them to the blizzard test*, it is clear that Russell is an excellent dog walker and human being. I feel strongly about not having just any random person walk Mr. Barkypants: I've witnessed how some walkers who work at larger operations treat (or rather mistreat) the 5-10 dogs they walk at once. Sadly, it doesn't seem uncommon for some dog walkers, on the north-side at least, to roughly yank leashes or yell and scream at dogs, or to refuse to stop walking to allow one of their charges to use the little dog's room, or to tie dogs up to a post in the park while the walker enjoys a cigarette and long chat with his friends. I am confident that Russell does NOT do this; Mr. Barkypants would probably behave very differently with him than he does. Interestingly, though Mr. Barkypants isn't terribly fond of strangers and he is particularly non-fond of strangers who are male and who wear hats, he took to the hat-wearing Russell like he took to liver treats from the first or second walk on. Russell has a gentle, quiet, calm, non-domineering manner with dogs (and humans, really). He isn't embarrassed about speaking to dogs in goofy voices -- a talent I quite appreciate. Moreover, wrt his human dealings, too, Russell is prompt and as honest as Abe: He lets us know when he isn't able to walk a full hour (because of severe weather or sickness) and deducts from his pay despite our asking him to take the full amount. Rates, by the way, are extremely reasonable for Chicago dog walking, especially since Mr. Barkypants gets Russell all to himself on walks. According to their website, Russell is bonded and insured as a dog walker and is a member of the Association of pet sitters. I can speak with knowledge about Russell's excellent credentials as a dog walker. He *will* treat your dogs with respect and patience -- or at least I'm pretty sure they will based on how they've treated my first born son. I can't recommend him enough.

I have a passion for animals! When I have someone else's pet, I treat them like they are my own. Also, I have great feedback from my family and friends when I am done watching their pet!
