Julia has been providing piano instruction to my daughter for 13 years. Julia is patient and calm, flexible, always prompt, and her fees are very reasonable. Julia urged our daughter to compete in ISSMA contests, and was always right by her side. Now our daughter will be entering college with a music major. Julia has been so helpful with guidance on this transition, including selecting the correct major, the audition process, and with providing much-needed insight, based on her own experiences. We would most definitely recommend Julia

My two oldest daughters began taking lessons from Janelda three years ago when they were just 4 and 6 years old. Janelda has the ability to notice each child's unique learning style and tailor the lesson to meet their specific needs and produce an optimum learning experience. She is patient and creative when teaching, which benefited my younger daughter especially since most 4 - 6 year olds don't have a 30 minute attention span. She utilizes teaching tools such as the "piano carpet" which gave my girls the opportunity to move around a bit and learn at the same time. Now that my girls are 7 and 9, Janelda does a wonderful job of mixing theory, technique, and popular music in a way that keeps my children engaged and interested in their lessons. Above all, Janelda's genuine love of music is evident in every lesson she teaches and has fostered that same love of music in my children. While my girls are becoming quite the little pianists, I see the benefits of their lessons in many facets of their lives. My youngest daughter, who recently turned one, can't wait until she is old enough to start piano lessons with Janelda just like her big sisters!

About

I have a Bachelor's in Music (currently working on my Master's in Muncie). I have experienced giving lessons in guitar, piano (beginner's), saxophone, clarinet, and general music theory. I have been playing, writing, and performing music since I was 4 years old so I have plenty of experience to tackle the difficulties with learning music. I also work as a substitute teacher so I have teaching experience with kids of all ages.

Mpingo is the name of the East African Blackwood tree that is used to make some woodwind instruments, including the oboe and the clarinet.
