Ryan was absolutely fantastic!!! He went above and beyond to make our day absolutely special!! He not only was the best DJ & entertainer & magician but he also got ordained and married us too!!! He even stepped in and coordinated our whole wedding day when our event person went MIA. I could not say enough at how well everything went and how much he was a part of making that happen! I would highly recommend quickly booking him for any event!!

Bretta officiated our outdoor, November wedding and was absolutely fantastic. She worked patiently with me on the ceremony, and offered thoughtful comments throughout the process. The best part of working with Bretta, however, was her flexibility on our wedding day. She was on time when we weren't, and beared with us during our disorganized but beautiful ceremony in the rain. She was an absolute delight and I am so pleased that we found her on Thumbtack. Highly, highly recommend!

Kimyatta was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond for my now husband and I ;) anything you can think of she can pull it off for you and I would recommend her to all of our friends, family, and anyone else who needed someone like Kimyatta. As a recent bride I know exactly how stressful planning a wedding can be .... Kimyatta helped tremendously with taking some of the stress away. Kimyatta is very cheap for how much work she puts into every wedding she does and I can not thank her enough for everything she did! Love Nick and Liz

We hired Special Occasions Designs for our November 7th wedding. We were lucky to find Special Occasions Designs and Chrissy to help us create the most beautiful flower arrangements, centerpieces and bouquets for our wedding. Chrissy was very easy to work with and took all of my ideas/thoughts on what I wanted for our wedding and made them a reality. She was always prompt for our meetings, available to review ideas over the phone or email and whenever I had a question she would respond the same day. She brings great skill and knowledge with regard to planning, decor, flowers, arrangements, bouquets and any other need I had. Very pleasant to work with and I felt that she truly wanted to make my wedding as wonderful as I wanted it to be. Chrissy also goes the extra mile, meeting me at my house to pick up my centerpieces - helping during the wedding to make sure everything went as planned, even trying to soothe my 2 year old nephew when he didn't make it down the aisle so not to create a scene. She loves what she does and you can see that through her attitude, kindness, professionalism and beautiful flower arrangements. Not only did I feel she went out of her way to make sure we had the best floral arrangements and that our wedding and reception were beautiful - she is fair and reasonable with her pricing. I would highly recommend Chrissy to anyone in the market for a florist and also a wedding planner. We had a phenomenal experience and were very pleased with our decision to hire Special Occasions Designs. Thank you for making our wedding/reception so wonderful Chrissy!

Marc went above and beyond to make our wedding ceremony special. I was extremely relieved to have him lead and organize the wedding rehearsal. It was one aspect of the pre-wedding events that as the bride I could sit back and let someone else handle. We sincerely appreciated his professionalize, flexibility, and kindness during our wedding planning process!

Without Heather, our wedding literally wouldn’t have occurred. We decided to have a very large, non-traditional, DIY, backyard wedding and Heather expertly managed it all. Throughout the planning process, Heather was very professional, had excellent and quick communication skills, and was always reliable/ punctual. We can not recommend her highly enough, she could have charged triple the rate and it still would have been the best purchase of the wedding. She made our wedding stress free and perfect!

I loved everything Lauren did for us on my daughters wedding day! She made me look amazing and my daughter and her bridesmaids already beautiful looked like celebrities. Before the big day Lauren worked with my daughter to get that Just Right look. When she came to us on the wedding morning she brought an extra makeup artist professional so that there would be plenty of time to go slow and not rush. When my sister and Brice stopped in to give us some love I asked Lauren if she could do their makeup too. She did and made them lovely as well! Lauren is a kind and gentle person who’s goal is to just make her client feel her best. She’ll go to lengths to bring out your most beautiful self. She’s sincere and professional. You cannot go wrong.

Tina was by far the best thing I invested in for my wedding! She took control of any situation that would have caused me stress on my wedding day. She also included a lot of things I wasn't expecting including decorations, help the day before setting up, and a mimosa bar. Tina was amazing and I truly could not have been any happier with her service! I highly recommend her to anyone!!!

Amanda-Lynn and her team is amazing! She was worth every penny and if I could do this all again and I would be calling her up in a heartbeat! Amanda-Lynn will listen to everything you want to have happen but is not scared to share opinions of why another option would be better. Since I was in another city leading up to the wedding, she met with my mom and kept in great communication over the phone and through email. The week before the wedding she checked in with me to make sure I was okay and if any changes came up. On the wedding day Amanda- Lynn showed up early to get ready to go and brought a helper with her, everything flowed so smoothly. I wish I had more time to talk with her personally because she seems like a fantastic person to know. Maybe one day we can grab coffee and talk about what an amazing day she helped put together for my husband and me. My mom was even able to just hand everything over the Amanda-Lynn and enjoy the day without feeling rushed or like she missed anything... that is worth more any anything. If you want someone to listen to you, follow up with you and suggest ideas where there could be weak spots, Amanda-Lynn is your girl. You could talk to everyone at our wedding and they would have nothing but praise for her and her work. Just to let you know how awesome she is: our wedding was ahead of scheduled for the most part, when does that happen!?! Amanda-Lynn, thank you a million times over again!

Julie was our Minister for our Wedding 8/6/2005. She was amazing from the time I called her! We didin't want to do the traditional vows, Julie was very helpful by sending me several examples that I could get ideas from. She communicated very well with us and was always available if I had questions. Julie was very calming on the day of the wedding. She is soft spoken & has a sweet personality. She stayed after the ceremony so we could take a few more pictures with her. She was very prompt, being early to the rehersal & to the ceremony. I would highly recommend Julie, she was very easy to work with and did a wonderful job. She definately made our special day memorable.

Rev. Chris was great from the start! Email and phone communication before the date was timely and thorough, and he arrived early on the wedding day and gave us the exact ceremony we wanted! He takes care of all the follow-up paperwork and even recommended a great dinner place for us, since we were from out of town! Thanks, Rev. Chris! Can't recommend you highly enough.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

        • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
        • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
        • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
        • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
        • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
        • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
        • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
        • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
        • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

        What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

What should you ask a wedding coordinator?

When you hire a wedding coordinator, you want to make sure he or she gets you and can execute perfectly your vision of your dream wedding. To find the very best fit, it’s important to ask these five questions:

        • Are you available on my wedding date? If the coordinator isn’t available on your big day, there’s no reason to continue the interview — unless you’re willing to shift your date to accommodate their schedule.
        • What’s average cost of most of your weddings? If the coordinator’s usual wedding is outside your range, they might not be the right coordinator for you. Ask whether the coordinator requires a minimum wedding budget. In general, the wedding coordinator’s fee should be about 15 percent of your budget.
        • What is your speciality? Some coordinators specialize in day-of coordination, some create the overall vision, and others act as a producer. Make sure your wedding coordinator provides the type of services that will most help you create the event you have in mind, such as selecting vendors and handling their contracts, or managing the guest list and invitations.
        • What are your ideas for fulfilling our wedding vision? After you describe your dream wedding — rustic or sophisticated, traditional or funky — the wedding coordinator should be able to suggest appropriate venues, menus, decorations, etc..

Do you have a portfolio? Ask to see photos of their favorite weddings, especially if they’ve managed any that are similar to what you have in mind. This will help you see if you like their style and if their ideas seem fresh and creative.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

        • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
        • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
        • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
        • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
        • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
        • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
