First visit of a weekly cleaning program. Did an excellent job. Attended to all of the details that an ex-cleaning lady like me knows to check. Tile floor in the kitchen was clean with no residue. Dirty carpet corners were clean for the first time in ages and no cobwebs! I was delighted (although the spiders were likely not). This busy physician will look forward to weekly visits from the cleaning pixies.

My refrigerator and oven were sparkling clean. The floors were vacuumed and the surfaces dusted. There weren't any cobwebs in sight. My kitchen and bathroom floors were clean, but not quite as clean as I would've liked. Overall I was pleased with the service performed, and the price was reasonable compared to other cleaning companies I'd used before. I would use them again.

Hollie is great! Our floors are wood/tile and are really tricky to clean without residue. She came back and redid the floors, and we could not be more pleased. She was great with our dogs and we are excited to have her clean our home.

Impeccable. With Godzdesign (Nikita) you get much more than you pay for. I am so very impressed with how quickly they responded and were available to clean. They were professional and went above and beyond in every way. I most appreciated that all the floors and carpets were steam cleaned. Thank you so much. I recommend highly.

Dave arrived at the scheduled time and went thru the house with us before he began working. He stretched the carpet and cleaned both the carpets and upholstery in under 2 hours. We are very happy with the results and would use All Colors again! His prices were excellent!

Suzanna was very quick to answer my quotes online, and prompt at making an appointment. She worked around my crazy work hours (came late at night) and stayed until the job was done! My kitchen is spotless! She cleaned things I didn't even know needed cleaning. She was also kind at rearranging little things to maximize my counter space. While I was away at work I was getting messages with picture updates, so I felt very safe having her at my home. I can't wait to invite her back for regular cleanings!!! (Her fiancé also came and brought their new carpet shampooer- he did one room and the stairs and I might just have to have him back to do the rest of the house. Great service and great value!!!

Great job really cleaning walls, baseboards, stair case steps & railing, etc. etc.! Would like to have the kitchen rug at the sink shaken out and rug vacuumed better under the dining room table, but can easily work that out next time. Otherwise, thank you!!

Devon arrived promptly and got right to work. She did a great job cleaning and even offered to clean areas I hadn't thought of such as wiping down the walls, baseboards, doors, etc. I could just feel the stress leave my body knowing my house would get clean and I could focus on my job. I plan on having Devon clean on a weekly basis. It's the best Christmas gift for me!!

ProClean Indy (Luke and Josh) have been cleaning my house for over two years. All of the surfaces in my house shine when they are done. When they are through I come home to a sparkling kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living room and every room in between. The shine they put on my hardwood floors is amazing. Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, disinfecting, emptying trash, making beds... They do it all! If I ask them to do a special project such as washing windows or cleaning my carpet, they gladly comply. They do all this and they do it fast and efficiently. I highly recommend Proclean!

First met Tony and Tena Hawk a year ago during an in-home estimate to replace floor tile. They do great work at a reasonable price. Had Tony return 6 months later to do additional tile work in our kitchen. Tony is a master craftsman with a lot of ideas. Tena was also very helpful in negotiating with a local tile shop to get a better price on materials. I will continue to use them and recommend them in the future.

Wow!! Yetta was amazing! I have always stressed over how messy my master bedroom and master bath and closet were. I am not a good cleaner and hiring Yetta was the best thing ever! My master room is in top top condition. She made sure to get the nooks and crannies. I feel as though a thousand pounds have been lifted off of my shoulder. Thank you so much for sending such a great person who takes pride in what she does! I will be back for sure even though I thought this would be a one time cleaning- Yetta, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

All the dust from moving and not being to clean for about 6 weeks is gone, and the wood floors are gleaming again. Every surface, even the glass table, looks great without smelling like chemical cleaners. Very pleased.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

  • Old standard or electric toothbrush
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • Spray bottle
  • White vinegar
  • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
