My daughter had taken piano lessons for 3 years from another instructor who moved away. She was so upset that she refused to take lessons from anyone else. Once I convinced her to try Mr. Patterson, there has been no looking back! She wishes now that he had been her teacher all along! She has been his student for 3 years and is learning at a much higher level than before. Her timing, technique, and skills have greatly improved. Mr. Patterson is highly trained and plays the piano brilliantly. He relates extremely well to his students and gets to know them personally. He has a fun, upbeat personality and casually shares interesting facts about music that instills an appreciation of it and a passion to learn. I get excited and inspired just by observing him teach! He creatively comes up with funny and interesting analogies to get a point across. Mr. Patterson always reinforces the student's strengths with positive praise and has a gentle way of working with them on skills/songs that need improvement. My daughter never felt criticized or shamed if she wasn't prepared. Mr. Patterson meets each student where they are at and advances them at a comfortable pace. He tailors each lesson for the individual, not a one size fits all. I have recommended Mr. Patterson to many of my friends and hope one day to take lessons from him myself.

My daughter had taken piano for a little while before her teacher had to move. We asked around and Daniel Patterson was recommended to us. She was really sad about switching teachers, but after a meeting with him, she knew they would have fun together. He was wonderful about fitting us into his schedule and getting her up to pace on his standards. She LOVES Tuesdays because she gets to see him and learn from him. She liked the piano before, but I would say that she has a love for it and WANTS to play. He has a great system for teaching the kids and it is evident that he enjoys what he does. He does a great job of fusing technique with creativity and my daughter has blossomed under his tutelage. We would absolutely recommend him to others and he is very reasonable price wise as well.

If your child wants to learn to play piano, treat yourself to Daniel Pattersons Music Studio! We feel lucky we did. Enrolling our daughter in piano lessons, we didnt foresee that it would be like the Wizard of Oz where Dorothys journey takes her from the fuzzy black and white of Kansas to the high definition Technicolor of the Emerald City. We were stunned! My husband and I dont play piano. We just hoped to enroll her in music lessons to boost her concentration & discipline and to gain the host of other benefits a music education is supposed to provide. Perhaps, weve watched too many movies, but we expected that a good piano teacher would train her like an army drill sergeant, with drills and exercises, rigor and discipline so that she would grow in strength and competence and confidence. In case she dragged her feet, we were ready to enforce any discipline needed to keep her on this path , knowing that in the end, it would be the best for her. She would, of course, thank us later for all this =) Daniel Patterson shattered our expectations! We were totally on the wrong track. Daniel Patterson is orders of magnitude more than we could have ever hoped for in a piano teacher! His passion, his buoyancy, and fun spirit are contagious. He is an expert at explaining piano concepts to his students in ways that they can understand at their level. He provides an optimal, always encouraging atmosphere for maximal/motivated learning to take place. Kids learn while having fun! If only all teachers were inspired like this! Our daughter feels like she is going to a piano party every week, and expects to have fun. She feels happy before and even more after her lesson and that overflows into our home when she practices her piano. And she LOVES to practice! She practices every time she passes by the piano. We dont have to remind her. As a matter of fact, sometimes we have to tell her to stop practicing because she has to do something else =) She has learned faster than we could have ever expected. And this enhanced learning has spilled over into all her school subjects. She studies everything with more self-motivation, discipline, focus and enthusiasm. And she is not afraid of practice. She doesnt get discouraged easily. She knows this is just part of the process of learning anything. And she has gained all this without a lot of effort or realizing it. Its as if Daniel Patterson sneaked in some pureed vegetables into his piano-teaching cookie recipe. Our daughter relishes her delightful lessons ( without the veggie aftertaste). Just to be sure, I asked our daughter if piano lessons were as fun as when Dorothy entered the Emerald City in Oz. She corrected me by saying, Its way funner.

Our daughter has been studying piano, under the direction of Daniel Patterson, for four years. His fresh attitude and delightful humor keep her engaged during lessons. He is not your old-school piano teacher! He is fun, upbeat, and full of knowledge. It is no stretch to call him a master in his field. I highly recommend his professional services.

I contacted Daniel about a year ago after my 10 year old son expressed an interest in learning the piano. He came highly recommended by friends. Zach started weekly lessons and has flown through the curriculum completing 4 out of 7 books in just 10 months. I have NEVER had to tell him to practice his piano; in fact, I can't keep him off his piano! Daniel teaches in such a way that it is fun, exciting and highly individualized to Zach's needs and abilities. We are thrilled with the progress Zach is making and overwhelmingly satisfied with the time and attention that Daniel offers.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

As a piano teacher, I am committed to motivating students, entertaining students, adding laughter and drama to lessons We don't listen to dull music, we don't watch dull TV shows or movies... ... why should a student have to painfully endure a dull 30 minute lesson? So many of the "common complaints" that young students have about learning music can be avoided if a teacher is passionate, entertaining, and effective at teaching. If a teacher can make music feel "easy", then students will have fewer emotional hurdles to overcome when it comes to learning the skill.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you are looking for a new music teacher, ask them if they provide a free trial lesson. This allows you to meet the teacher and determine if they are a good fit for your family.
