Introduction: Selected as a Super Lawyer by Indiana Super Lawyers since 2018, Todd founded Barsumian Law in 2010 after leaving a large Evansville law firm where he was a trial lawyer and litigation partner often hired by insurance companies. He was also selected by Indiana Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Rising Star designation is an honor bestowed on no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the State of Indiana by their peers. Todd was selected to The National Trial Lawyers Association: Top 40 under 40 Civil Plaintiff Attorneys for the State of Indiana in 2012 and to its Top 100 Indiana Civil Plaintiff Attorneys in 2016. Todd has achieved Martindale Hubbell's Preeminent AV Peer Rating and a 5.0 out of 5.0 Client Rating, a 10 out of 10 Avvo Rating, and is Lead Counsel Rated in areas of Personal Injury and Elder Law. I enjoy helping the injured and their families find some peace amidst all the stress and worry a severe injury caused by another's carelessness can cause.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We accept cases on a no-recovery/no-fee (contingency) basis, where we advance the case expenses and our fee is a percentage of the gross damages recovered. If you make a recovery in your case, expenses are deducted after our fee is calculated. If you do not make a recovery in your case, you do not owe us anything. All of this and our respective obligations are spelled out in a writing signed by the attorney and client, which allows for us to undertake representation.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We are typically hired after customers have called and spoken with us free of charge. We provide a free consultation for the injury and the families of those who have suffered a wrongful death. Sometimes our prospective clients will have already gathered records. Other times, we may ask that they gather records for our review before undertaking representation. If they don't have their records, we can help them go about getting them. Many of our clients are comfortable with us undertaking representation remotely, as we provide the option for a virtual meeting via Zoom and electronic signatures. We prefer to meet with our clients in person, but understand this is not always practical, especially in today's world. Once we receive signatures on the fee agreement and necessary paperwork, we begin our work on the case.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We are law school graduates with more than 30 years of experience handling personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases. Todd has handled a variety of cases as a insurance and business defense attorney prior to deciding to work only for the injury in 2010, so he is familiar with how the other side may approach the case. Jonathan has worked for two of Indiana's largest injury law firms. They both participate in continuing legal education, present at seminars, and contribute regularly to the firm's law blog.
