- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am a registered architect in Indiana, Michigan and Florida. In order to maintain my licenses, I am required to complete formal continuing education credits. I typically complete more than the required credits to maintain all licenses that I currently hold.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I grew up in a family that built homes as a hobby, not as a vocation. These were homes built from the ground up for aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters, as well as numerous Beam family homes. My father was an auto worker who, at times, would be gone to work from 5AM-4PM, come home and build a house from 4PM to Midnight, then get up the next day and do it all over again. That seeded my interest in building and designing, while also instilling a solid work ethic in me and my siblings. I have been employed since the age of 13, designed my first home that was built by my father at the age of 16, and I never looked back.
