I've had 2 sessions with Richard of Real Class Photography now. One was December 2016 inside a studio in Jacksonville and the most recent one was a Sunday afternoon in Downtown Saint Augustine Aviles Street area in natural light June 2017.
I usually prefer studio lighting but Richard has a very unique style of colorization and editing that works much better outdoors with natural light. My husband and I enjoyed the maternity photoshoot very much and I contribute a lot of that to all of us being prepared. Richard is great at communicating and we were able to discuss and plan out our 3 looks with him prior to save time and to stay organized. I highly recommend arriving in your main/first outfit and bringing your spare(s), if any, in a lightweight rolling suitcase. I also got my makeup professionally airbrushed ahead of time to feel confident and lighten the load off of Richard when it comes time to edit.
I have worked with a few very bossy photographers in the past, so I was shocked at how accommodating, flexible and nice Richard was! He is really open to suggestions and allows you to pick your own poses. If you don't have time to research different poses you'd like to try ahead of time (Pinterest, Google), then I suggest bringing a posing coach with you to the shoot. Even just a friend or family member. This allows Richard to concentrate on focusing the camera lens and adjust his angle for the lighting while your helper makes sure your hair doesn't stick to your lipgloss and your hands or legs look natural and relaxed. Sometimes a pose feels totally awkward but it makes for the most stunning shot! You can't see what the photographer sees but the posing coach can, and help you adjust.
I was very pleased with the photographs Richard of Real Class Photography took, as well as his sense of humor. He was laid back which made the photo session fun! He was also kind enough to let us sneak a peek at the raw image on the camera anytime we asked between a set. This let my husband and I know which poses we liked best and what we should adjust to make the next shot even better.
Richard's raw images were so beautiful on their own, that if you don't like the style or colorization of the way he edits them, ask for one or two of those. Some of the shots were high-contrast and dark coloring for the final product which makes them stand out — but if you want something different, just ask! I also really loved every shot he turned to black and white! These maternity photos will be a treasured keepsake that my husband and I will look back on with our future child.
One of the main reasons my husband and I wanted a maternity shoot is for the gender reveal portion of our upcoming baby shower. We took photos with pink and blue sneaker props and we asked Richard if we could get them finished by a set date. We did the photoshoot with Richard on a Sunday afternoon and the final, completed, high-resolution images were all sent to us by Thursday morning! I have never experienced a faster turnaround! It was so exciting to see the beautiful images so quickly. He really worked hard to accommodate our time crunch while maintaining high-quality results.
