I hired Dee's Landscaping to provide overall maintenance of my yard to include cutting the front/ backyard, edging, trimming and blowing everything down. I have to be honest by saying I was extremely impress with their work to the point where I hired them full-time. Additionally the work that they accomplished on my yard had my neighbors asking for their service. Finally I would refer Dee's Landscaping to any homeowner looking for AWESOME yard service.

Had Lou come and quote a sod replacement job on a large yard that didn't need the entire yard redone. Many other contractors wanted to tear up the whole yard instead of just replacing the areas that were needed. Lou's pallet count came in the lowest, however, he was right completely accurate. His crews showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up well and did a fabulous job. He provided us all the instruction needed on caring for the new lawn. I would highly recommend Lou and his company for any landscaping services you need.

Alenia gave me a reasonable quote and II hired her to do some deep cleaning. She arrived on time, worked fast and was thorough. An added bonus was her pleasant, friendly personality. I was so impressed I have asked Alvenia to do general cleaning for me on a regular basis. I highly recommend Alenia's services.

I had an older sprinkler system which was a DIYer project by the previous owner..needless to say is was done all wrong..Michael's team put in all new PVC piping and extended the system with new heads so my entire front yard would get water..they put in a new zone box with all new on-off valves..plus a brand new digital watering timer..they repaired parts of my existing fence..built a short fenced are for my garden and put in a privacy fence to separate my garbage cans and shed from the rest of my back yard..I am very pleased with all the work that was done..everyone was knowledgeable, respectful and accommodating since I had to let my dogs out every few hours..I can highly recommend Patriot Lawn Service and its owner Micheal Andrews..you will not be disappointed with his company and the services he can provide.

They were hired to do lawn maintenance. I had an overgrown backyard and they cut and trimmed the back and front lawn. They came out on a Sunday, which was awseome.

Edward was excellent! I have no green thumb whatsoever (I can't tell the difference between a weed and a plant) so needed someone to help with the general upkeep of the various shrubs, plants, and hedges in the front and back yards. Edward came by, educated me on the various work (trimming, spraying, etc.) that needed to be done, and then got right to work. My yard looks a million times better, and I'm looking forward to seeing my plants flourish again!

Mr. Tivey is a professional on every level. It is a bonus to hire him because he is a general contractor--professional in every way! Our home is a 35-year-old remodel therefore an ongoing project. Some projects we've done with Mr. Tivey were projects originally done by someone else, over five years ago, and have become problematic. On each occasion Mr. Tivey assessed the situation and upon finding the root of the problem, offered the best remedy as well as the cost for the repair or project. His deep knowledge has been extremely beneficial to us. We have hired him for electrical, plumbing, flooring, roofing, irrigation work, pump work as well as normal maintenance projects. We have referred Mr. Tivey to numerous friends and they have all been happy with the work and have called him back for second projects. We are very pleased with Mr. Tivey's work and plan for him to be our general maintenance person for our home.

Quick and efficient. Angel Cross was running late but the work he did made up for it. I thought I was going to have to replace my brand new faucet but he showed me where something was loose & how to fix it in case I ran into the issue again. More than reasonable pricing & great work. I will definitely be calling him for future handyman services.

I needed landscaping help before a party and reached out 2 days before. T&K were there within hours, gave me a very good price, and had the job completed by noon the next day. It really relieved my mind so that I could focus on the inside prep. The party was a big success and the yard was enjoyed by all.

We were referred to Anthony with East Coast Cuts by a friend and very pleased with his work. Anthony arrived on the day that he said he would and did a great professional job. My husband stepped outside to greet Anthony and said he was a very nice guy. We feel confident that East Coast Cuts will take care of our lawn for us!

If you are looking for an honest, plumber who knows what he is doing, then look no further. Not only was he on time, which is very rare for many plumbers, he was patient, explained what needed to be done and saved me a whole lot of money. I had been told by another plumber that the job was huge and needed all my pipes taken out and replaced.. Oh NO!!! HME came in and did the job without doing all that. Where do you find a plumber who has quoted you for a job, comes in and realizes the job costs less than he had quoted and decrease his price? I bet you NO WHERE. I am very pleased with his work and I will refer him to my friends and rest assured you will not be disappointed.

What does a property management company do?

Property management companies manage the rental of residential homes, apartments, condos, commercial spaces and retail spaces. Property managers can oversee just a single unit or many properties, whether those sites are inhabited full-time or are vacation rentals. A property management company helps a property owner or landlord find tenants; collects rent; takes care of accounting, property maintenance and repairs; handles on-site management; and manages vacation rental check-in and checkout tasks. Although many property owners or landlords successfully manage their own rental real estate, a property management company can help you handle tenant issues and maintenance problems, especially if you are not located in the same city or state. Most property management companies deal with tenants directly, and their tasks include:

      • Marketing the rental property
      • Collecting rent
      • Handling repair problems
      • Responding to tenant complaints
      • Evicting tenants

A property management company may be a good choice for property owners who have several investment properties, live far away from the rental property, or don’t have time for hands-on management.

How do you find a good handyman?

Finding a good handyman can change your life. Within days, the endless list of insurmountable tasks that were either out of your skill range or impossible to fit into your busy schedule can be completed. If you know you want help but aren’t sure how to hire the right pro, ask these questions to find the right fit:

      • What is your work experience? If you are putting in a tile backsplash, you want someone experienced with the task, not someone who generally does painting and junk removal.
      • How much do you charge? Handymen often charge hourly rates that vary based on the complexity of the task they’re hired to do, as well as flat rates for standard jobs. Be clear about what they’ll charge before you hire them.
        • On that note, discuss payment details. It’s wise not to pay all the money up front, especially for larger projects. You may be able to pay a deposit for materials and pay the remainder upon project completion.
      • How long will the job take you to complete? If the handyman is as busy as you are and a fence repair is going to take months, you should probably find another qualified handyman for the job.

Read client reviews and follow up with references to make sure you’re choosing the right handyman for your projects. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

      What does a handyman do?

A handyman is a skilled laborer who provides basic home repairs. Anyone can call themselves a handyman, although most who do so are skilled with repairs and home projects. Reading reviews is a good way to determine their fitness for your job. The tasks a handyman can perform include assembling furniture, painting interiors and exteriors, repairing fences, repairing broken doors or replacing trim, hanging lights, hooking up appliances, and much more. Handymen may have flat fees for certain services, or charge an hourly rate. Handyman rates are often lower than those of a contractor, as they don’t have the same specialization. Some states have no limit on the work a handyman can perform, while others do. For example, California’s Building and Professions Code section 7048 (small operations) permits handymen to provide work similar to that of a contractor (floor installation, painting, etc.) provided the total cost of labor and materials does not exceed $500. A handyman is a great resource for minor home repairs at a lower cost than a licensed contractor, but for more complex projects, it pays to hire a specialized contractor. Why is property management important?

A property management company can be a landlord’s greatest asset. As a neutral third party, the property manager handles the day-to-day operations of a real estate investment, from a single vacation home to a large apartment building or several rental properties. A property management company can be especially helpful to landlords who own several units and can’t manage each of them individually, or those who live too far from their investment properties to meet with renters and oversee maintenance. Property management is particularly important if your rentals are part of an affordable housing program. To receive financial assistance from the government, the landlord must comply with a complicated set of rules; property management companies should have both experience and expertise in complying with the rules specific to each housing program.

How much does a handyman charge?

The national average rate for handyman jobs is $90-$160. A handyman performs general maintenance and repairs for residential and commercial properties. A handyman may charge a flat fee for standard services that take a predictable amount of time, such as installing a new appliance, as well as an hourly rate for larger projects such as digging out and replacing a rotted fence post. A cost-saving strategy when hiring a handyman is to bundle all the tasks you want them to do into one visit to make the most of any minimum service fee. Hourly rates for a handyman can average $50-$100 per hour. Pricing will depend on skill and experience required for the job, as well as regional labor rates. Here are a few examples of average handyman flat rates.

      • Attic ladder replacement: $150.
      • Toilet replacement: $75.
      • Ceiling fan and light fixtures: $75.
      • Faucet replacement: $125.
      • Garbage disposal: $75.
