Don knows his stuff, he's easy to get along with and overall a really nice guy. He has an impressive repertoire of musical skills and a lifetime of experience in music to draw from. As far as instruments he can play a little bit of everything, he can basically teach you any instrument you'd find in a regular rock band, folk, country, pop, blues etc. He's probably most proficient on the guitar and piano but he also knows quite a lot about vocals. If you struggle with theory he does a great job demystifying some of the fundamentals of music theory that are useful to beginners. Whether you're an absolute beginner or long time musician Don will be able to help you out. Highly recommend.

I’ll be honest, I got lucky finding Dave. Years ago, I saw an ad in the Baltimore City newspaper, a place where Dave stopped advertising shortly after I called him. You’ll have the same luck learning from a dynamic artist. Each lesson has as much energy as the first, you will never get bored. If you're looking for a professional, experienced, and dedicated musician you found him. I knew nothing about the bass before taking lessons with Dave. He always puts the student's musical interest first providing solid instruction. He structured each lesson to my interests, i.e. if I wanted to learn Le Chic's Good Times, Dave didn't try to convince me to do something else; he went with what I asked. And Dave is totally accessible. I’ve had lessons in his apartment, studio, house, and on Skype and FaceTime. He even worked with me while overseas in France via Skype, that’s 6 hours time difference. Don’t kid yourself, if you are serious about learning the bass so is Dave. He’ll find a way to make it work. The best part is during each lesson and over the years he incorporated fundamental musical knowledge to build my understanding and repertoire. If you work hard, listen, and be patient you will grow.

Finding a good guitar and bass tutor can be pretty fraught. Anyone who knows a few scales can potentially set up shop. I had the misfortune of visiting several such "instructors." Unlike most of the folks on craigslist, Morgan is a true teacher. He has deep musical knowledge that spans genres and play styles, and will adapt his lessons to the interests of the student. But more importantly, he's just a great person - kind, patient, and passionate about music. Over 2 years of lessons, Morgan helped me progress from simple pop songs to Jazz comps, and even indulged my interest in kooky prog metal rhythms. The lessons were fun, spontaneous, and challenging. Bonus: Morgan is an experienced guitar tech with a fully outfitted shop in his house. I cannot overstate how convenient it is to be able to get your instrument fixed in the same location where you take your lessons. Virtually no one else in the area can provide this dual service. In summary: I wouldn't write such a long review if he wasn't the real deal. I left each lesson with a smile on my face and I saw the same in every other student that walked out the door before my timeslot. If you want to learn and actually have fun doing it, give this guy a call.

Carey’s talent as a teacher does wonders for bridging the gap between music theory and music performance. I went into lessons with only a very basic knowledge of music theory that I hardly was able to apply to guitar, but his lessons taught me how to play in a way where I can either explore the musical depth of the tune or simply jam, comfortable that what I’m playing will always sound good. It’s broadened my abilities as a musician without taking away the simple fun of playing guitar, something that is invaluable in any teacher.

I've been taking a weekly hour lesson for a month and have greatly improved my playing and understanding of music working with Kevin. I am an adult who has been playing all my life but with little formal training. I have hit a wall with trying to self-learn using books and videos and needed someone to walk me through some of the advanced concepts. He is very patient and encouraging with my efforts to apply the lessons to my own music interests. Specifically he is helping me fill gaps in my knowledge by teaching me jazz concepts and the modes and how to apply them to jazz standards. I enjoy the lessons and look forward to them every week.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons from Gregg every other week for the last 6 months. The main reason I decided to seek out private guitar lessons from an instructor, was because I couldn’t get into online or DVD guitar lessons which I attempted for several months. Moreover, I’m old school when it comes down to music lessons, due to learning the cello through classroom instructor- based lessons from elementary to High School, along with private lessons thereafter. With that being said I can say I’ve made one of the best decisions towards enhancing my playing on the guitar by taking lessons with Gregg. When I first started taking lessons from Gregg, he provided an individual plan for me to help with learning scales, technique exercises, licks, and improvisation. He showed me how to make my own melodies on the guitar by using scale/chord relations. He provided the theory behind using various chords with scales which I did not gain from DVD or online guitar learning. He also broke down how much time I should spend on practicing the guitar to get where I want to be. He is very encouraging and will provide feedback to you which will enable you to improve in certain areas. I would like to recommend Gregg for beginner to intermediate players, as well as advanced players who are preparing for gigs. In addition, Gregg cannot practice for you, he can only provide lessons. I try to practice from 30 minutes to 2 hours a day depending on my daily schedule. Gregg is a great teacher, I am already playing with others (bassist and drummer) and using the skills he taught me to improvise my playing.

I found Victor here on this website for a guitar teacher for my son and when it came down to needing to hire a teacher Victor had followed up with me. So I took advantage of the first free lesson and he's been my sons guitar teacher ever since. Victor is very patient and knowledgeable, the personal attention and care he gives to each individual child is wonderful. You can tell that he has a love for music and this is his passion. I've spoken to other families that he teaches(some for several years) and they all agree. He works well with my son on incorporating styles and songs he is interested in as well as teaching music theory and basics. My son was a beginner 6 months ago and now he is playing full songs confidently. He loves coming to guitar class and learning new techniques, and songs. I plan on continuing until my son can pay for lessons himself. I highly recommend Victor Crisen.

I was with Kim for 4 years, and I can honestly say that she made learning double bass easy, as well as fun. There was never a dull lesson, and she always motivated me to continue to practice and further my skills in the instrument. She worked on my school orchestra music, helping myself to perfect it, and also would teach me other techniques/exercises alongside. Honestly, working with Kim for as long as I did was a great experience, and I've become a better player because of all her hard work. She is truly dedicated, and loves playing/teaching double bass.

As a beginner, I was in search for a patient and dependable guitar instructor. Bernardo went above and beyond to ensure my learning experience was fun and productive. He did not bog me down with technicalities alone but rather instilled a sense of listening needed for aspiring musicians to succeed. Most importantly, he taught me the value of being responsible for my own learning experience, I took his advice seriously and excelled. Thank you Bernardo!

I provide all levels of bass instrument instructions and tutoring in music theory, harmony, and sight singing proven track records.

I have turned lessons with some kids into 6-8 year long mentoring relationships. Some have moved onto musics schools and Universities. I work with people from ages 7-61 currently. I have a 100% success rate with my students, but only when time and practice is regimented by the student . Studying and playing music for 30 years has taught me a lot. I base my lesson plans entirely ontbe individual I am working with . No 2 students of mine ever share the same lesson plan , unless requested by those individuals. Most of what I teach I learned by what “not to do” I have found that learning from past mistakes, in all fields of music, had made me very aware of what people should not do as well as areas of focus and strength.

I'm not a professional guitar or bass instructor but have been playing music since 1977. I have been playing in bands on and off for about 26 years. I currently play in a local rock and roll roots music band. For those interested, I would be happy to teach basic chords on guitar and blues scales on bass, for example.

I offer in-home instructions on the double bass and bass guitar to all levels of experience and all ages.

I’m an absolute beginner with guitar playing and musical theory. I've been learning guitar playing with Lena for about 2 months and plus now. Lena has been a wonderful instructor for me. Her teaching materials are very organized and systematic, which is essential for a beginner like me. Her patience and very encouraging words along the way helped me become more confident as I practiced from when I couldn’t even play a cord to being able to play 10+ chords smoothly. She also lets me choose a list of songs I’d love to learn to 1) help me learn how to play my favorite songs; 2) practice the chords she teaches me. This makes my practices much more enjoyable as I love the songs I’m practicing. I’m also learning from her a bit about musical theory and song writing in the meantime. In addition to the teaching part itself, she’s also very flexible with scheduling. I was able to reschedule several times because some unexpected events came up. With a very reasonable price, what else could you ask for from a guitar instructor?

Tom comes to our home for a weekly music class with my one year-old. He plays the acoustic guitar and sings to her, teaches her about the various notes/music sounds and brings kid-friendly instruments for her to explore such as an egg shaker and tambourine (an age appropriate "lesson"). Tom is great with her and she loves the time with him - its clear that he loves kids. We're looking forward to these weekly lessons as she grows and her musical sensibilities develop!

After two lessons, I feel very encouraged that this was the right move. Rob is easy-going, a good listener, and focused on teaching me to *actually play*. He deals with technique and theory, but is not rigid or dogmatic about it. I highly recommend him.

We are so very pleased with Mr. Brown. He's just an excellent teacher. My oldest daughter has shown an unbelievable improvement since she started taking bass lessons with him. My youngest son just started taking guitar lessons with him as well and even though he's not very talented, he is also making progress. I couldn't believe it, but now I believe it! I highly recommend Mr. Brown. He's very flexible, professional, and a great teacher. We can't wait to have out third kid for him.

I took guitar lessons from Damon for about a year. Damon is a great teacher and an all around good person with a super positive outlook on life. Damon is a true professional who is always courteous, patient and respectful of people and excels at what he does. I would highly recommend Damon Foreman Music Academy to any student looking for high quality music instruction wherever they are in their music journey.
