Chef Kev provided wonderful food and outstanding customer service. He was very pleasant to work with. He and his assistant, Anita, made it possible for us to relax and be good hosts while our guests were taken care of. I appreciated the worry-free night knowing that everything was handled. Anita even chatted with guests who didn't know many people to make sure they were having a good time. My favorite items were the pasta salad, pulled pork sandwiches, and the dessert tray items because they tasted great and they were easy to eat on small plates while standing up. The sparkling punch with strawberries was so good -- I think I drank a whole pitcher. Bonus: my fridge is full of awesome leftovers. I won't have to cook for a week.

I would give Nasrin six stars if I could. She agreed to prepare dinner for two on the occasion of my wife's birthday. Over the course of 10-days of planning she consistently demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and reliability. On the night of the surprise dinner, she produced a delicious feast of regional dishes, in generous quantities. My wife was surprised and delighted, so I couldn't have been happier. Highly recommended!

I arranged a private cooking class at my home for several of my friends as a Christmas gift. The event was a great success! Learned how to make pasta and other tips about cooking. Our event was last night 1/9/16. I would highly recommend Stephanie and would use her again for other events. Isabel

I Was looking for something different for my wife and her sister during a visit. I saw A Private Affair on Living Social, offering a cooking class for 5. Since my wife loves to cook and her sister spent some time in culinary school I thought 'lets just give it a go." We ended up with 3 1/2 people making what turned out to be a fantastic meal - each of them taking responsibility for preparing a course under Chef Jackie's guidance and watchful eye. My grand niece made the salad (and Chef Jackie was great in keeping her on task and engaged); My wife did the potatoes au gratin; another friend did the pork chops and my sister-in-law made the chocolate moose. It was a lot of fun watching them but not as much as they seemed to be having. The menu options were great, the food was different and unique and everybody learned something new. Most importantly my stock went up for being the guy who gave his girl a cool and different gift. Pay attention gents! This one was worth it!

The cooking lesson was for my teen daughter. Mary was very accommodating. She was well prepared and very professional. She taught my daughter with patience and she made it fun for her. She taught her terminology and safety, as well as helped her to create a wonderful meal. My daughter will continue taking culinary classes with Mary and I would not hesitate to recommend her to family and friends.

I thoroughly enjoyed my coooking class with Manjiri! She was fantastic at explaining and also demonstrating the cooking techniques. The recipes were easy to follow and I was able to recreate them at home easily. Best part was that the food was delicious!! My daughter and I love the flavors of Indian food and Manjiri's dishes were comparable to food cooked at a high quality restaurant. I highly recommend her cooking class, you will love her!!

First and Foremost!! Our Taste Buds said "WOW" with each course. Recently, I became a new Dad and being that this was my first Mother's Day gift to my Wife, I decided to take a unique approach. An approach to surprise my wife by bringing a Personal Chef into our home. I googled the internet and came across Thumbtack.com which graciously led me to several Personal Chefs. As I waded through the listings of Chefs and solicited several price quotes, Gourmet Chef Amer's responded in a timely manner. After a brief discussion and viewing Gourmet Chef Amer's website, I was sold. Eureka...I found my Personal Chef of choice. The price point for services are respectful and having a website that depicts an array of menus dishes with thoughtful and detailed descriptions is informative to potential patrons. Chef Amer was very well prepared and efficiently blended his cooking style to the logistics of my kitchen and dining room layout. Overall, the Customer Service was Great; the aroma and food was deliciously rewarding to our palates; did I say the Customer Service was GREAT; and most importantly, the Mother's Day surprise was a SUCCESS!

I am a private cook. I would plan a menu and do all the shopping, then prepare and cook the meal. I then would clean up. I have been trained in classical French, and I am a Greek. I can cook anything. I can do a week's worth of cooking, a dinner party, or a holiday event.

I absolutely love Too Busy Meal Service. We are a family of four with two growing teenage boys. Our schedule is crazy with sports and music activities so we often don't have time to make a decent dinner. With this service we always have a good, healthy meal to eat and the cost is about the same as what I would spend at the grocery store every week, except now I don't have to cook. This service saves us time while eating more balanced. It's a win-win situation!

Kristin has been providing meals for my family for the past 3 years. Typically, I will order twice a week and it has made my life so much easier to come home from work and have a hot meal already prepared. Her menu changes weekly and the variety is impressive. If I need her to use brown rice instead of white, or if I would like extra spinach, it is never an issue. Her meals are always on time and delicious. I have recommended her to many friends. I have also been to a few cooking classes that Kristin has held at her home and was able to come away with easy recipes that require little time in the kitchen. Her attention to detail is extremely important to her and you can tell from the meals she provides to the cooking classes she hosts. The only thing that would improve the service is if she delivered. : )

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
