Vicky was great! She not only took great care with all of our animals, she handled my anxiety well! We received photos and notes every day with updates of the animals and how they were doing. I told her not to worry about one of my super shy cats because if she tried to find her, it would stress her out more than just being left alone...well, the first day I get a picture of that cat just chillin with Vicky! When we came home we were greeted with an, "Oh...it's you. You're back" bored look from the animals...that was GREAT! I knew she kept them so happy they were not pining away for us or stressed out. I had used another pet sitter for seven years due to convenience, but the animals seemed stressed when we returned. With Vicky, everything was great.

We are very happy with Loudoun Pet Care. Tyler came over for a consultation and he listened to what we were looking for in a dog walker and was very professional and nice. Our dog immediately loved him. Every day we get an update with a GPS imagine of where he took our dog walking and the amount of time he walked her. Tyler is very responsive if you need him. Overall we are extremely satisfied with his service and are very thankful to him. I highly recommend Loudoun Pet Care.

Absolutely wonderful. Gennaro almost immediately responded to our request and came to our house the same day to do a visual and service estimate. The price was absolutely reasonable and his service was prompt and professional. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone in need of lawn care.

Shakira, AKA Shaki, has been taking care of my dogs (truly my fur babies!!) for a couple of years now. She walks them twice a day while I am at work and she grooms them, which the doggies love and I really appreciate! She also stays at my house while I am on vacation to take care of the dogs, so as to avoid boarding. Shaki also walks and/or plays with the dogs when my husband and I go out for the evening so I dont feel guilty about leaving them at home alone. I am sooo thrilled to have Shaki in my life! She truly loves my dogs as much as I do (if that's possible) and I rest assured when I am at work or on vacation knowing that my dogs are under her care. I am happy to share Shaki with you, but she's mine first! LOL. Seriously, she is fantastic and I am not so easy to please. Hire Shaki - you will be glad you did. I am happy to answer any questions. PS - She has never, not once, missed work or any commitment she had made to me.

Debbie provided outstanding care of my cats, and did all she said, sending video clips and photos and text updates on how they were. She was caring and attentive, and they responded threefold. I've not ever had such a worry-free time with a professional pet sitter and will most definitely work with her company again in the future.

We had two chocolate labs that Waggy Walkys took care of for 4 years. They were very dependable and my dogs loved them. They walked and feed the dogs everyday and when we were out of town on vacation or business Waggy took care of them as well. As my dogs got older and sick, I saw a very sensitive side to our walker. She helped with administering the medicine and called during the day to let me know how they were doing. My dogs are in heaven now and when we get our next dog we will call on Waggy to be a part of our family. I recommend Waggy to my family and friends.

Jodie was very patient and accomodating and a fount of wisdom. She gave the puppies and I "homework", reviewed all aspects of puppy care and issues we were having, gave specific useful guidance to resolve them. She followed up with an email with links to articles on appropriate ags for running distances with dogs. Definitely recommend her.

Blake, the owner, is a true professional and I couldn't be happier I hired his company. He's very interactive with the customer and built an efficient, consolidated, user-friendly website where you can perform virtually any function you need. In addition to the competitive prices, he truly cares about his work and the way he takes care of my dog goes above and beyond. My dog had a UTI and when he got to her, she had wet the bed. He spent an extra 20 minutes free of charge comforting her, cleaning up and putting the sheets in the washing machine. If you want a polite, pleasant, punctual and professional service, you can't go wrong with these folks. I have half a dozen dog walkers over the past 10 years and Blake and crew are EASILY the best.

Camelia was ready for me right on time and took me into her artistically decorated chambers. She made me feel comfortable and then carefully developed my ideas for her services. She worked with great sensitivity and care until my make-up was complete and I felt like a new woman. Camelia obviously has the ability of an artist. I hope she finds an excellent path for developing her talent and can find employment in a highly respected salon.

Cyndie was a professional with her first appointment screening process. Lots of questions for me that even I hadn't thought of. We hadn't had a dog in a couple years, so her thoughts and comments were very much appreciated. Nancy did a great job keeping us posted from afar while we were away with great pictures of our dog Stella. Prices are very reasonable.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
