I normally score good or average but I wanted to do better and get at least an excellent so that I could become the commands Assistant Fitness Leader. Well I had 3 weeks to train with Elin and my goal was over exceeded. I maxed out my push ups, sit ups and scored excellent on my run. I was very pleased with my results and Elin's commitment to train me. My schedule is jammed pack and I like that he is very communicative in rescheduling with me and managing his time to meet up with me. Well before our special evening, I was given an opportunity to convey personal preferences and address any food limitations that might need to be considered. A beautiful seasonal menu was then provided, accommodating my general preferences, from which, we selected an amazing multi-course meal! Chris was right on time and established the perfect tone for a great evening to follow, inviting us to sit back and relax to becoming more involved in following his every move, if we'd like. We took advantage of the opportunity to watch a master at work and ask any questions that might help us to become any bit more skilled in the kitchen, as well. Chris' enthusiasm for the culinary world and vast knowledge about food is contagious and his dietary and nutritional tips incredibly informative. This was a welcome education on multiple levels. The beautiful presentation of each course was artwork, and our appreciation was only outdone by the delectable depth of its incredible taste. As delicious as the meal was and as informative and fun it was to watch it's preparation, Chris is simply an extremely nice, generous and caring person to invite into your home. I've known Kristin both professionally and personally for the better part of a decade now. She is one of the happiest, most energetic, outgoing human beings I've met. She's dependable and motivating. Simply, Kristin is the type of person you want to surround yourself with - especially while trying to achieve personal goals. I have always been an active person but hit a wall with workouts as my job become more time consuming. I have limited time and was looking for the best "bang for my buck." I was also simply bored doing the same routines time and time again. And to add to that, I was trying to loose body fat and build muscle... while training for a long distance running race. Not the easiest task, but I knew exactly who I was going to for help... At the time, Kristin was in FL, and I was living in VA. We setup a consultation and she immediately helped create an awesome plan tailored to my needs and goals. It was exciting to have something new and planned! The new moves were practical, not intimidating (but VERY challenging), and they were all planned and mapped out, so they didn't require too much brain power. I felt like I could just take the workout sheet she wrote for me and go to the gym without thinking, which was a huge bonus for me. I followed Kristin's custom 12 week plan and followed some of her nutrition suggestions. Did I do every workout or complete every rep? Nope. Did I rule out all junk food or wine? Nope. You cannot put a price tag on feeling the best physically you have in years. Aric has opened my eyes and subjected my body to a form of training that was entirely foreign to me (and will be to many other former athletes, weekend warriors, or sedentary desk workers), and yet something I now believe is absolutely vital to almost all human beings. Training with Aric will improve your FLEXIBILITY (increased range of motion, decreased pain, and increased strength through proper muscle function), BALANCE, CONCENTRATION (Train Mindfully as Aric would say), COORDINATION, and of course STRENGTH. An unanticipated benefit is that it may also have you BREATHING BETTER (improved endurance, less anxiety, more energy) than you ever have before. Here's a little about my story that may ring a bell to many people out there: I was a former college soccer player who had suffered a couple sport-related injuries left me unable to find my way back to the field for about 2 years. I had tried multiple physical therapists, chiropractic, you name it to regain my athletic prowess. What I DIDN'T realize that the things affecting me most weren't my ankle or knee surgeries, but rather the imbalances, weaknesses, and compensations I had developed from years of bad posture sitting in a desk job and doing traditional workouts at the gym. MANY IF NOT ALL of you have these without realizing it and you're robbing yourself of feeling and performing your best.To give you an idea of the types of issues I was dealing with and you may be dealing with here are a few examples: anterior pelvic tilt, shortened hip flexors, hip misalignment, tight neck, inflexible shoulders, tight pectoral muscles (thanks a lot bench press), weak core strength (six pack "abs" are not core strength), and more. These types of things DO NOT go away in a workout or two as they're built up over a number of years; your body is great at adapting (unfortunately in most cases with people who work a 9-5 at a desk this is a bad thing). I can pretty confidently say that Aric is one of the only personal trainers in the DC area adept at identify these types of issues, and coming up with the perfect plan to correct them. If you are an athlete looking to improve your performance or return after an injury, a sedentary desk worker experiencing back or knee pain, or just ANY HUMAN BEING give Aric a call. I guarantee that his breadth of knowledge and mindful training techniques will have you feeling better than you have in years. If you want an overnight solution I recommend you stop reading this right now and go back to whatever fantasy land you live in. If you're willing to be patient and put in the time and effort it takes to see improvement the RIGHT way (i.e. helping your body versus hurting it more through "traditional" methods) then I highly suggest you get in with Aric before his business blows up and he no longer has time for new clients. I trained with Matt for my first “personal training” experience. I went in knowing what I wanted to improve and work on, also hoping to get a better understanding of my body and how I can improve my lifestyle to make it a bit healthier. I was a bit nervous since I wasn't sure what to expect. I was in need of a trainer who could help me achieve my fitness goals. I needed someone who was knowledgable, understands how to work with people who have a variety of fitness levels and nutritional needs, and could teach me how to make the most of my training sessions. I have been through college fitness classes, participated in numerous fitness plans, and tried a variety of exercise routines and it was hard for me to find a trainer who could teach me something new, let alone help me progress. My first session with CJ was a new experience. Instead of taking me around the gym from machine to machine and assigning an amount of weight and reps for me to do for the next month, he spent the time discovering what I could do and what my body needed. During my session he also taught me more about how the muscles work and how to build strength that was not the same old routine. I knew I had found my trainer. Future sessions consisted of a variety of exercises meant to push me further than I thought was possible. He paid attention to my form and helped me make adjustments so I could get the most out of each movement and avoid injury. I was also given extra exercises to do for homework until my next session. Every week is different so I am never bored and my body doesn't get stuck in a rut because it is always being challenged in new ways. As a woman I never felt uncomfortable because of the professionalism shown and he was was always willing to answer my questions. He also helped me find areas where I could improve my eating habits. CJ is constantly reading the latest research on nutrition and fitness and would relay what would be helpful for my fitness goals. I highly recommend CJ for anyone who is willing to put in the work it takes to improve their health and wants some intense butt kicking training sessions.
