While visiting my daughter in Northern Virginia, my wife and I had the pleasure of meeting Gaurav Singh of Going Yogue. We had a wonderful conversation about India, yoga and the benefits of incorporating Mudras (symbolic gestures) in your everyday practice in order to stay cool, calm and happy. My wife and I practice yoga daily, and were very interested in learning new practices from Gaurav as he seemed very knowledgeable. We don't drive, and he even came to my daughter's house to give us a lesson- a huge convenience for us. He taught us Sheetli pranayama (breathing exercise) and Abhaya Mudra (gesture). We have incorporated these into our everyday morning session. Both of these help me to stay cool and calm, which is necessary due to my high blood pressure. This daily practice also helps me to have a better sleep and keeps me happy. Additionally, we talked about my diabetes and how to naturally control it through nutrition. Gaurav was kind enough to put a plan together and sent it to me through email, which I may follow at home. The plan has been very helpful. I wish I would have more time to learn from him, and will surely have more sessions when we next visit the area. Before meeting with Ahmed, I was always intimidated by all the information out there. The way he describes nutrition and the body makes you feel so comfortable and confident. He puts it in a way where even if you are a complete beginner, you can understand everything. I now know what to do and how to incorporate nutrition to make the most of my time in the gym. He showed up 15 minutes early to our meeting and was flexible with the location. Michelle counseled me on nutrition and beginner triathlon preparation. She was encouraging and understood the emotional dynamics behind my eating habits. She didn't just say: "eat this, and not too much" and then not understand when I was struggling to do what I intended (like some previous trainers I have worked with). She was also very encouraging and helpful on triathlon training plans and was fine with the fact that my performance goals were pretty modest compared to most of her other clients. I was being trained by Catherine years ago and I said something about " No pain, no gain " as she corrected my posture during the routine. She quickly said that no one should experience "pain" when working out. I knew then that I had FINALLY found a REAL trainer. Catherine's training and professional skills are unmatched. She simply loves doing what she does and it shows. She trains you according to your skill level and ability, and she is never distracted by today's tech gadgets ,( cellphones) which means you get 100% of her time, every time. I moved out of state for a short time and invited Catherine down for a visit and workout of course. she could not out run me on the beach, but she whipped my butt in the gym , but they were good workouts. Later on during her visit, she took me to the market and taught me how to properly shop for quality organic foods , and quickly made a knock out dish for me and my friend as we looked on and took notes. I moved back to the DMV area, reconnected with her and now I am receiving weekly healthy meals from her. Boy is that a relief. And knowing that she is a certified nutritionist only adds to her credibility. In short, if you are looking for true quality in a trainer as well as someone too cook healthy meals for you, Catherine is the hands down choice and that's why I give her 5 stars. I Was Very Over weight and uncomfortable with my body. My attitude was negative and i was never happy. Until third year of highschool i decided to change my life around by losing weight. I liked the personal approach. I believe Christine made recommendations to meet my specific needs. I learned how to eat a variety of foods and prepare simple meals. I also learned how to properly interpret nutrition data and labels on products as well as which products to purchase (for example, steel cut oats instead of prepackaged oatmeal). Linda has been my trainer and nutrition coach for at least 10 years. She is the best in the business. Linda plans a varied workout based on physical/medical needs, so one is never injured. She challenges and holds clients responsible, which is what a trainer and coach should do. Linda has an extensive and impressive background in both personal training and nutrition, so sessions are very effective. Linda was instrumental in planning pre-op, recovery and post-op rehab when I had back surgery, which contributed to a successful surgical outcome. Amy is super fantastic as a personal trainer. I worked with her in 2012. She let me set my own pace while encouraging me to stretch what I didn't think I could do into what I could do. Amy listened well to what my goals were, my goals were her goals. Previous trainers didn't listen to where I was at and where I wanted to get to. Amy took the time to get to know where I was at physically, nutritionally and emotionally with starting a physical fitness plan. She encourages SMALL CHANGES that lead to BIG IMPACTS, living up to her motto. Amy is full of energy, encouragement and makes working out fun...even when you know this is going to hurt tomorrow. My only complaint is that we now live several states away. Amy is someone I trust to understand my struggles with weight and body image because she has been there. She understands and cares. I have yet to find someone like her in our new state.
I love working with Carrie. At first I was scared that she would put me on some crash diet or crazy exercise plan. In the past that is what always happened with me. I then quickly burned out and went back to my old habits. Carrie worked with me to develop a plan that works for me. And she was not like nutritionists I have seen before, she did not just tell me what to eat and what not to eat. She talked with me about what I needed and let me set small goals. There always no carb or calorie counting, no crazy weight loos gimmicks. And I loved her idea of a program versus paying per visit. It made me accountable for following my goals. I am on my second month, and I have lost about 6 pounds, but I feel amazing. Carrie has taught me to take better care of myself, not just with diet and exercise; but with stress reduction and self care too. I feel like I am in a far better place physically and emotionally then just a few weeks before we began working together. Well worth the money! I paid far more and received far less in the past with yo-yo dieting, personal trainers, nutritionists, and alternative healers. Carrie does more than all of them combined!
