Wendy was amazing! She taught me how to read patterns and told me not to be afraid to improvise if needed to make it work. It was just what I needed. My pattern turned out great and I feel great about my edits to it. I would defiantly hire her again!
Allow me to set the scene. I own a very pretty lilac crocheted dress that I've had for years and I absolutely love it! One day a few months ago, out of sheer laziness, I decided to clean the dress in the washing machine instead of washing it out by hand as the instructions very plainly say. When I opened the door to the washer after the last cycle was complete, I pulled out the horribly mangled lilac mess you see pictured below. Needless to say, I was devastated. How could I have been so careless with my beloved dress?! With very little optimism, I searched the internet for someone who could repair crocheted items. I stumbled across the Thumbtack site and found Scarlett. Scarlett had one glowing review after another. It was apparent that she was a master at her craft. I didn't have a doubt in my mind those reviews were true. But given the condition of my dress, I didn't even think Scarlett had the ability to save it. In my mind, no one could fix that dress. It was impossible. But I still decided to give her a chance. I brought the dress to her, she looked it over. She indicated unhesitatingly that she could fix it. I, of course, was very doubtful but I appreciated her effort to try and fix my dress nonetheless. A couple months later, I hear from Scarlett. "Your dress is ready" she says. She explains that it took a little longer than usual to finish because she had a hard time finding the exact thread to match the rest of my dress. I made arrangements to pick up the dress. En route, I wonder how the dress will look but I have no expectations. Again, I'm just appreciative for her efforts to take on the seemingly (operative word) impossible task of salvaging my dress. As I walk into Scarlett's apartment, she goes to retrieve my dress. When she unfolds it and holds it up before me, I can not believe my eyes. MY DRESS LOOKS JUST AS IT DID THE DAY I BOUGHT IT!!! Scarlett had taken the mangled mess that I was certain could NEVER be repaired and transformed it back into the dress that I'd become so fond of! I know that my review is very long but I deemed it necessary to say all of this in order for people to fully understand just how completely AMAZING Scarlett is. All the reviews that praise her work - they're all true. Scarlett is phenomenal at what she does and I would recommend her in a heartbeat. I will definitely be using her again for my future alteration, sewing needs. In addition to being good at what she does, she is also very pleasant to deal with. By all means - enlist Scarlett for your alteration/sewing needs. I promise that you won't be sorry.
She is very professional and can make you feel comfortable when dealing with her. She knows and do her job well and in a timely manner. I would gladly recommend her to my family and friends always.
I had a wonderful experience learning with Simpson Creative Designs. She is patient, very knowledgeable and has an enjoyable teaching style. My daughters even took a lesson with her, she is adept at teaching adults and children alike. Highly recommended!
I had an intermediate level sewing class with Ms. Smith in April 2016. In my case, I wanted to learn how to tailor Butterick/McCalls' patterns (i.e., button-down shirts) to better fit me. Ms. Smith was very knowledgeable and patient in showing me what to do step-by-step and at my own pace. As a result, my sewing knowledge just got kicked up several levels in one 2-hour session. If you are looking for a sewing teacher (at affordable rates) for any level in the D.C. area, I would highly recommend her services. I plan to come back for more lessons in the future.
Carlous is in a class by himself. He can make an adverage person look stylish through his vision, creativity and flair with his one-of-a-kind designs.
Valerie is amazing! We sat together and she walked through everything I needed to know, setting up my machine and practicing/learning stitch skills. She has a hands on style of teaching which sticks!
I have worked with Carol Adgerson of Peach multiple times and also referred my clients to her. The experience has been top notch. A great combination of impeccable customer service and lovely products. Carol makes you feel comfortable to discuss the sensitive topic of undergarments and it's so terrific that she comes to your home. Most women don't have bras that fit right. I will continue to use Carol and refer her to my clients. Cyndy Porter Cyndy Porter Style and Photography

I have received training and much practice in the older couture traditions of fine workmanship. I know things that are no longer taught.
Naan did an outstanding job on making a dress for my God-daughter. We were please with the product and the process. It was a great experience a budding fashionista. Naan patiently explained the process, what material we should get (because we wanted to be very involved in the process), and helped us create beautiful one-of-a kind dress. Mother, daughter and aunt were completely satisfied...no small task as we all had our own ideas. Thanks so much Naan!
I have worked with Meg for custom clothing projects and those are always amazing. Her upholstery skills are just as great as her clothing skills. She is professional and goal oriented. She works closely with clients to ensure that they receive the finished project of their dreams. Her skills in anything sewing related are so vast from clothing, high fashion, fancy umbrellas, couches, ottomans, window treatments and much more! Meg pays close attention to detail and is good with sticking to the deadlines you set for her. I will always be a return customer for the many services Meg offers!
Jamie offered an excellent service for logo embroidery. On time and very precise work. Very satisfied and will order again from her.
She was on time, patient and did a great job with my make up.
She is great, hire with confidence. Can't wait to have her come back. We will be using all three skills, started with sewing. She will be teaching my daughter crochet, and my husband knitting. Very excited, and my sewing lessons are going great!
I came to Aubrey to get a custom-designed Renaissance wedding dress. I had a few reference pictures of different styles in mind, and she combined them into a design that I loved! She checked in with me regularly and made sure that the design was exactly what I had wanted. She did several mock-ups in white fabric for fittings, adjusting the dress as I changed my mind a few times about the neckline and the size of the sleeves. (She is very patient!) We went through multiple rounds of swatching fabrics and when I fell in love with a gorgeous silk with limited yardage available, she made it work. As she was making the gown itself, I came in for multiple fittings, to make sure that things were fitting well – she even adjusted the fit of the sleeves so I could dance more enthusiastically. She added pockets to my dress, so I was able to have my phone and a few other things on me, and it didn’t show. And – very exciting – I was able to go to the bathroom by myself on my wedding day! Aubrey suggested shoes and jewelry to go with the gown, and even created trim out of two different kinds of lace to get the look that I wanted. Aubrey is did an amazing job and I highly recommend her!
