I have taken Gentle Yoga with Asya at Sun & Moon for years. When I heard that she was offering a more personalized therapeutic class, I jumped at the chance to address my particular problems -- back issues, bad knee, Morton's neuroma in my toes -- all things that made some yoga poses very challenging for me. It was wonderful to have her focus on my issues, and she helped me develop a personal practice to work on these things. Her gentle and encouraging voice, strong knowledge of anatomy, and inventive teaching style made it pleasurable as well as useful.

Sometimes you find someone who is just really strong at yoga, and Ravi is one of those people. She has stamina, technique, flexibility, enthusiasm - the whole package. Much to my delight she incorporates teaching yogi philosophy and explains the origins behind some of their techniques/traditions. She gently assists students with pose corrections and provides movement/placement options for those who may have physical limitations. The atmosphere in her sessions is relaxing, coupled with her soothing voice, allows students to maintain focus on their practice. I've been training with Julien about two years now. It began as an at home training experience, and sometimes we would meet at the gym and do some weight training. Many times we worked out at a local park. I've enjoyed working out with Julien because of the sometimes unorthodox exercises that he would do. I lost a lot of weight working with him, and increased my 5k race pace. I enjoy that he draws inspiration from many disciplines such as yoga, meditation, martial arts, weight training, parkour, etc. I think if he had his own gym in a centrally located place it would be awesome. In his gym, he could have jungle-gym inspired equipment in addition to weight training equipment, so we could have a gym (indoors) that would support his style of training. As he grows, perhaps this is what will happen one day :)

Horseback riding: I have implemented yogic techniques while instructing horse-backriding lessons and have taught yoga and riding to people of all ages and levels of experience. I have been riding horses for pleasure for over 15 years and primarily teach English lessons (Hunter and Equitation). I used to ride for the University of South Florida equestrian team and I love working with kids because riding helps to build confidence, trust and focus (amongst many other excellent character traits).
